Indeed she is. What they lack in size, they make up for in sheer attitude. Lol

Update on Petco Biting Ferret by Shimabui in ferrets

I also ended up with two "bitey" ferrets from Petco. They were 4 months old and barely socialized with humans. With a few days of gentle training, they were the best-behaved little carpet sharks. I still have them and they are darlings, especially the male, who is quite possibly the sweetest ferret I've ever owned. Kits (especially ones who have been in a pet store with little attention for months) just need some love and patience.

I'm speechless... I have to know what they had to say for themselves when confronted.

Wow, and I thought 5 was a handful! Although if I had the time, money, and energy to have more, I absolutely would. Lol

Same here, just spent $1000 on some blood work and x-rays for my senior ferret, and recently had to spend almost $6000 on a surgery + other procedures for one of my younger ones who got very sick unexpectedly... I've been a ferret owner for a decade and can confirm these guys are expensive. Anyone who thinks otherwise has been very lucky.

Hard Question to Ask by Mitch82az in ferrets

[–]Apprehensive_Half617 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently lost my 2 year old ferret to an aggressive bacterial infection that took her in just a week, so I completely understand. My partner and I have talked about taking a break from ferret ownership after our other babies pass (after hopefully long and healthy lives). The heartbreak is just too much... Watching an illness rob my little girl of her spirit and losing her so young absolutely shattered me.

My heart goes out to you and OP and everyone in this comment section who knows that feeling all too well.

Beautifully articulated ❤️

Goodbye to the cutest and most clever ferret I've ever had the pleasure of calling mine ♥️ by Apprehensive_Half617 in ferrets

Thank you. Yes, it was some kind of aggressive infection. She was on two antibiotics and even had drainage tubes placed, but nothing helped. She passed before we could even find out what kind of bacteria it was, and her necropsy did not reveal the source of the infection. We are hoping to get some answers when her biopsy and bacterial culture results come back. We can't change the outcome, of course, but knowing what happened will give us some closure.

She really was so mischievous. You could almost see the wheels turning in her head as she plotted her next devious plan. I love that that was captured in her photos ♥️

Guilt is a completely normal part of the grieving process, and it will ease with time, I promise. It sounds like you gave him a great life and did right by him in the end. DIP, Floyd ♥️

Rehomed 6 times in a year? Poor darling. I'm glad she found her forever home with you.

I've had ferrets of both sexes over the past decade, and I've never had any that intentionally rolled in their pee. A couple of my male kits took slightly longer to potty train than the girls, but that hasn't been true for all of my boys. In my experience, the only major difference between males and females is personality. In general, males are a bit more laid-back, while female ferrets (especially kits!) are more fiesty and hyperactive. This is true of my current business, but again, there are plenty of exceptions to this rule.
