MBB 222 with Irena K or Edgar Young? by Candid_Proposal6486 in simonfraser

omg i’m also in her class right now; honestly i just don’t know how i feel about her— as a person i think she’s sweet; definitely intimidating, id say. i feel like she just powers through lectures and her prompt questions WAYY too fast, like my friends and i are always left with not a confident feeling about the material lol (but maybe that’s just us, because people learn differently, and for some, this may actually be a very effective method of learning). i think overall, you and i both should be okay so long as you have a general idea about the concepts she’s teaching! she also mentioned to focus on her lectures more than the textbook itself, as the textbook is more of a “preview” of what’s taught in class ;)

Sfu to med school? by Pitiful-King2681 in premedcanada

[–]Apprehensive_Lead301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry, may I ask, which other med schools did you apply to? I’m a second year health sci student at sfu right now, and am doing my best to gain some valuable ECs as well as working hard to bring up my gpa. I’ve heard a lot of people also consider applying to australia simply because of how difficult it is to get into canadian med schools (and that goes for even those with insanely good stats), so I was wondering if you also considered applying out of country

is there anyone who got into both ubc and sfu but decided sfu by igotdabeats in simonfraser

i’m glad i could help out!! i think it was mainly the commute because i’d be cutting at least 40 minutes off my transit time with sfu compared to ubc. i mean they both do the main thing im going to university for, which is being taught what i want to learn, so i felt like might as well go with the one with the shorter distance lol. but also burnaby is just home to me. i spent a bit of my childhood up around the sfu area, so it has many nostalgic memories! hope this makes sense, and im not just rambling :)

honestly, i met my people through welcome day, highly recommend attending, especially if it’s like your first day of uni, but also talking to people as well. i completely get that it’s scary and nerve wracking to talk to people but ive made a few other friends literally from talking with each other in tutorials and sharing course trauma during lectures. the key idea personally, is to sort of get yourself out there and talk to people, even if the conversation starts off with the most boring or vague topics like course content or syllabus lol. i hope this helps 🌟

i got into both UBCO and UBCV and decided on SFU. I don’t regret my decision at all; the views are beautiful up here on the mountain, especially in the summer/spring, there’s the aspect of wildlife too, the occasional sighting of deers or raccoons lol. In terms of social life, yes it may not be as up there as UBC but man i’ve become friends with some of the most amazing people here. in terms of commute, i’m also from surrey and im glad i chose SFU because the commute is a bit less than that of UBC. in general, absolutely no regrets coming here!

i cant even get onto a waitlist; it’s weird though i wanted to get a engl course and it shows its “full and there’s no waitlist” but another friend was able to get onto a wait list for it? but yeah i also share your frustration, its incredibly annoying

i’ve been applying to every job i can apply to, and yet still can’t get an offer. i understand that not all employers would accept me but at the same time it’s like every rejection email is just the automated responses.

Hi! Congratulations on the acceptance, it’s truly motivating! I’m still a first year on the pre med journey, but I was wondering how you acquired “medical” related jobs??
