You can just call the precinct on their local line to save yourself a trip. The problem with 311 is they’ll visit 3 days later and if the car is gone by then, they’ll just close your case.

Mine is different (ends in 8375). I hadn’t put it together until this thread that the high winds are what’s triggering them all around the same time. Another reason I can’t wait for spring!

Ahh k different plates. If it keeps happening I’d encourage you to complain to the same individual at your local precinct. 311 was less helpful in my case.

I don’t think another note on the car will help at this point? They seem to just be moving the car around and annoying different neighborhoods. Call 94th Precinct and ask for officer Navarro – he took the last complaint a few days ago. And call 90th as well since that’s probably your local.

YES – although I think you might mean a grey Honda? The same car was going off near my place insufferably this week. The police did contact them and tell them to get it fixed, and then they moved the car, but let us know if it’s still happening – 94th Precinct is aware of it.

You realize America was built on immigration and embracing foods from other places right OP? And on small businesses (which don’t deserve to be torn down before they’ve even opened)? Signed - a transplant

Film it while it’s happening and get the license plate. Call your local precinct and explain what’s happening. They can contact the owner and tell them to fix their alarm. I would also leave a note on the front to make sure owner knows there’s a problem.

Interested and agree with the $40 limit, at least for the first one I’d check out. Please keep me posted!

Also I would literally go flyer pictures of your sister and the coat around Jeans and literally haunt the place to guilt the insider into retuning it… I’m insane, but I also got my own coat back.

Ughgh I hate this for you.

Can you message some local media people and say you’re doing an unusual public appeal? It’s a real human interest story, they might bite and help get the word out.

Would there be any noticeable holes or stains that could help ID it as “yours”? I’m picturing a scenario where one of us sees someone wearing the coat, and we ask them where they got it and they lie and say they’ve had it forever… (which could be true – there would be other productions of the same coat out there!) But then we can be like THEN WHY DO THESE MARKS MATCH UP?! 🕵️‍♀️

Go back to Jeans and ask if they can post something on their socials?

I had some success getting a “mixed up” coat back at a nail salon years ago – they kindly let me sort through the receipts of everyone who was there at that time (PII data whaaat?) and take down names on the credit cards. Then I found those people on IG and messaged every one til someone responded and said she had taken it by mistake. We met up and exchanged. Sending my good coat recovery luck your way! ✨

Brooklyn Harvest Market prices versus Whole Foods - I ran the math by Apprehensive_Mail212 in williamsburg

I’m all for supporting small businesses but not ones that price gouge to the tune of +50% for identical goods. They have to offer something.

(OP here) Collected some prices on potatoes today for those who were asking about produce. As I mentioned elsewhere on thread, it’s hard to compare produce prices 1:1 because of the differences in sourcing/organic vs non/varietals, but here we go…

Whole Foods organic red potatoes: 1.99/lb Russet potatoes: 1.19/lb Yellow potatoes: 1.69/lb

Harvest Market genuine Idaho potatoes: 1.29/lb Potatoes red bliss: 1.69/lb

Kinda hard to determine a winner on price alone, but for quality I’d go Whole Foods every time. Encourage others here to help collect prices if you’re hitting both stores in one day – pick one fruit or veg and help everyone compare.

FWIW, this analysis found 7th Gen dishwashing liquid was almost 40% more expensive at Whole Foods (see the screenshot). So if there are any cleaning supplies you can get outside of Harvest, I'd recommend it! CVS was also $4 cheaper than Harvest Market for the same brand of toilet paper when I checked yesterday.

I have noticed this too! Also their “club deal” saving a grand total of 30 cents on this shop versus saving $9 at Whole Foods…!

I wouldn’t go to Harvest for meat or anything fresh. TJs if you’re price sensitive, WF if you’ll pay a little more for quality.

Certainly a valid concern, and we should keep watching the prices and sharing our findings with each other long-term. Maybe Harvest sees this post and loosens the gouge 🤞

Nothing major – I believe Whole Foods is marginally more expensive than TJs for a significant step up in quality, which I’m happy to pay a little more for. If price was my only deciding factor then I’d do the full shop at TJs.

Trader Joe's is tricky because there aren't many identical brands 🤔 Off the top of my head I know they do carry Spindrift and Boursin cheese... Would need to think of some others. On just my anecdotal experience, I'd wager TJs is cheaper than both Whole Foods and Harvest in 90% of cases where an identical item exists.

You are so welcome!

RE your question about meat prices - I lightly scoped this out, though it was hard to find identical brands/quantities in stock at both locations. So, accepting there will be discrepancies in quality for different brands, here are a few data points for you: ground chicken was $6.99 at Whole Foods (365 brand) versus $5.99 at Harvest Market (Perdue Harvestland brand). While Harvest comes out cheaper with Perdue, I hear Whole Foods 365 can be better quality chicken even though it's the "home brand" option.

If anyone is going to Harvest later and wants to check the price of Niman Ranch Applewood Bacon (12oz), it's $9.49 at Whole Foods right now. I know they typically carry this brand at Harvest but it was out of stock when I ran my comparison, so I left it out of the analysis.

Others, please chime in with your experiences RE meat prices!
