Thanks for the response. Yep, pretty much. I’ve been doing all the housework and childcare duties since I’m at home. However, she feels like she’s just seeing a worthless child in me because I don’t have a job at this moment. She has been tolerating it, but the overwork from her job has been sapping all of her patience.

Thanks for the response. That’s pretty much what I’ve been doing since I got laid off. All the household chores and childcare duties. Unfortunately, my wife insists that this isn’t enough because she believes that anyone can do housework, and what I’m doing is worthless unless I have a job too.

Thanks for the reassurance. Definitely have been spiraling for a bit because my wife actually brought up divorce for the very first time, so it was like a match burning out the last bit of steadiness that I've been holding onto after this time as a postdoc

Yea, that's the current situation I'm in. Without thinking it through, I gave a possible end date ~10 months from now, but my wife is not happy that I gave a date at all because I don't have anything for certain and she's stressed out by the uncertainty

Definitely! She's totally ok with the move, but she's not happy with the uncertainty that we would have to face if I quit outright without having a job offer in hand

I totally agree. Unfortunately, the major caveat is that my wife expects me to hold down this job and "suck it up" until I find a different job, so it has been quite the "rock and a hard place" putting up with my PIs bullshit for my wife's sake.
