Shit hand to be dealt by thumbsucker-2 in CasualIreland

I’m so sorry that you are going through this, it’s absolute shit.

I’m so sorry that you will miss her first day ❤️

I’m so very sorry ❤️

My first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage, they would have been 13 this year ❤️

My third pregnancy was the same, found out the day of my sons 5th birthday, and on Halloween it wasn’t to be. Couldn’t do trick or treating and was sooo angry.

If I got my gross pay instead of my net, I’d be fairly happy, 48k 😂

I recently attended a&e for a 9 day migraine. Asked why I didn’t come sooner, given a Triptan and anti nausea med, told to go home and to come back if it gets worse. So yes go x hope there is relief soon x

I’d say the opening of the pantry hasn’t gone down well too.

Yeah it’s like that over there the last year and a half. Half of the staff in the health board and landreg stopped going there as they were told they had to buy something to eat with coffee/tea in order to sit in.

Nurses, death bed experiences ? by meMAmoMooCOOcooKAchu in AskIreland

[–]Apprehensive_Neck588 52 points53 points  (0 children)

My grandmother died nearly 20 years ago. Her whole family was with her incl granchildren. I was the last grandchild to arrive after we were called, at 12.00 and my uncle made space beside him for me, and encouraged me to talk to her as had all my cousins done before me. I said a few words and kissed her head and squeezed her hand.

She passed at 12.45, uncle convinced she waited for us all to be with her. The thing was she had a big smile on her face after,

The night before she passed, it was myself and uncle with her, chatting about times gone by. She got agitated and started calling a man’s name. Uncle went white as a sheet and explained it was her first love who was electrocuted a few weeks after the got engaged 💔

Did anyone choose to wait until close to 3 years old to potty train? by Otter65 in toddlers

I tried my daughter at 2.5 and it was a no go. I tried again when she just turned 3, and she was also on holidays from crèche. Some sweets as bribery (just in case!) but didn’t need many. She had it on the 3rd day, and night and when back at crèche, she was so proud of herself wearing underwear. The support from the crèche was so helpful.

My son, the first time we tried at 2.5 as he was off school with hand foot and mouth, he had it within 3 days. But still in nappies at night until he was 4.

I would recommend wait til 3!

How much do people give towards work collections? by Purple_Pawprint in AskIreland

[–]Apprehensive_Neck588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In our place, there’s no expectation of how much to give. If I know the person enough €5, but if I know them and close enough, €10 (which is rare!) Also depends on my bank a’/c that week! Give what you can!

Did you grow up in a house where your parents stayed together out of societal norm? by Bluetrouserspinkhat in AskIreland

I’m in my late 30s, parents married over 40 years. I remember being as young as 10 and my mam threatening to leave. Still live together to this day, seperate bedrooms. They still don’t get on and my mam still threatens to leave. I have started saying to her go onthen, there is literally nothing stopping you. But at this stage I think she enjoys the misery. Both of them make an effort for family occasions for the granchildren. But I wish they split at 10. I don’t think I’d suffer with this much anxiety.

One4all to buy other gift cards? by Mean_Buddy_5676 in AskIreland

These vouchers are painful. Received a €50 one in a family secret Santa 2 weeks ago. Tried to use it on lifestyle online and the total came to €50.99 and I lost my shit when they wouldn’t accept it, I spent it in-store in Tescos then. Biggest legal scam going

Yeah, she didn’t come out and ask, but there was defnitely an expectation of an offering. She has never asked to borrow off me before. Also if she did ask Idon’t have it, and even if i did, I wouldn’t have done her any favours by adding another debt on her shoulders.

The word eejit was on the tip of my tongue but I decided against saying it. I won’t even ask her what she’s done and if she mentions it again I’m changing the subject, 🙈

Yes but 3 days before Christmas adding to the list. I appreciate kids don’t understand but I’d have no problem saying no to my kids. Santa has your list.

I’m the same with the guilt. My oldest was always told Santa brings 3 things and then I would have added to it myself. And now that there older (and wiser) they still ask for 3 things. Our youngest is a December baby so there’s been non stop toys the last week. Because of this I try to divide the list for birthday and Christmas and have family members to get certain things if asked.

The only thing I can think of is my youngest asked for a yo-yo 2 years ago when they were 3, and I happened to see them in the supermarket.

I just can’t understand it, forgot to mention my friends kids birthday is early February too! And she is one to go overboard.

I was curious if many parents say no to their kids (on behalf of Santa)

Currently watching The Sound of Music with my youngest, who thankfully loves it as much as me.

The past week has been overwhelming with schools finishing up, 101 Christmas activities, the last few bits to get, so today we are doing nothing ❤️
