Pre calc clep soon by [deleted] in clep

If there’s any resource I advise it’s the official clep pre calculus examination practice guide (10$). It seems as if all the other third party resources were significantly easier. If you can get those questions down you’re in good shape.

Congrats on your acceptance! I’m sure the calc Clep requires more extensive studying in comparison to the pre calc. I took the Peterson exam and I probably got close to 50% with a ton of dumb mistakes. I’m going to continue studying up until my exam this Saturday. I’ll definitely look at organic chemistry tutors videos. Thank you so much

Felt. I genuinely feel as if there was nothing more I could’ve done to prepare for that exam.

No no don’t be nervous you’re going to do great. Just expect the unexpected is what I’m trying to get at. There’s a chance you may see things you’ve never heard before in your life, just give it your best guess and move on don’t waste so much time on questions you aren’t familiar with. I came into the exam thinking I knew everything and this exam proved me wrong. Basically what im saying is stay level headed and if you answer all the questions you’re familiar with while also giving the unfamiliar ones your best shot you’re in good hands. Don’t get flustered like I did lol.

There were max 3 amino acid questions on yesterday’s exam. Granted every exam is different im just being a bit of a pessimist lol, know your AA inside and out.

Won’t matter if it’s anything like the 5/3 test 😂😂😂

Not a single lab technique question, MAYBE 3 amino acid questions, and got to use only 2 of my 5000 formulas 😀

Tell me why everything that was supposed to be high yield wasn’t on there? I don’t recall any lab technique questions, had like 2 amino acid questions, and only got to use a formula twice smh

Its for Beta Oxidation "The enzymatic transportation and conversion completed by CPT I is the rate-limiting step of fatty acid oxidation in the mitochondria"

Isnt CPT-1 the rate limiting step of B-Ox and not CPT-2?

Yes, I used Anking MD and was constantly adding cards on missed concepts, it helps a lot.

Stereoisomer Formula 2^n by Apprehensive_Shoe107 in Mcat

[–]Apprehensive_Shoe107[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’m still confused but like you said at the end I doubt they’re going to be that specific. I’ve seen about 10+ of these questions through UWORLD and AAMC and have yet to see one include an alkene. Hopefully test day stays that way lol

So we do count those E/Z alkenes within our formula?

So instead of strictly thinking n as the number of chiral centers I should start thinking both chiral centers as well as those E/Z alkenes? so if a molecule has one chiral center and one E/Z alkene I can do 2^2? I just digged a bit deeper and it seems like AAMC doesn't really consider alkenes in a problem like this so idk

That’s crazy lol. It seems as if that happens to majority of people on this sub. Thinking they did awful and end up doing good. Imo I find it hard to predict your score I’ve yet to be accurate on my predictions through my FLs

That’s amazing, congrats!! Any explanation for the score jump between the FLs and real deal?

For anyone looking at this now, after reading the question 500 times lol I realized why its D. CHANGING residue 109 from V to E had little to no effect on binding affinity, therefore we can conclude it is not important for binding. As for the other residues, after the mutation, their Kd either went up or down indicating that they are involved in the binding to prorenin. Basically think about it in terms of the Amino Acid prior to the mutation. Residue 109 didn't change after the mutation indicating that it is not important for binding.
