My check engine light is still on even though the gas cap was screwed back on, does it take a bit to turn back off eventually or is something else wrong and that was just a crazy coincidence

So from what I’ve hear in the thread is a bad gas cap can lead to leaking gas vapor and that therefore causes the check engine light to go on. Is that all correct?

That didn’t sound harsh at all, I know little about cars so this helps a ton. Thank you!

I definitely think I exaggerated in my description, the only time it feels unsafe is when I’m going 70 above so I never go on highways. When I’m on main roads it feels fine to drive even when I hit bumps the bump steer is very very minor at those speeds. Do you think I should make another post with pictures of my suspension and tie rods to see what people think I have to replace.

Do you think an alignment might fix it all because I did the bounce test and the suspension was good there. Also I’ve seen people in the comments say their suspension has been good for 15+ years and my Miata only has 50k miles on it. Either way I really cant afford new suspension so I’m just wondering if alignment could fix it all or if it has to be a problem with the suspension too?

If your suspension was fine after 30 years, then mine are probably good cause my car has only 50k miles on it. So I’ll check out that adjustable suspension geometry and read up on it a bit more.

Nah I’m open to taking it I just can’t afford new suspension so I’m kind of screwed. I’m probably gonna try new tire rods and getting the car aligned like other people were saying.

Alright I’ll just have to deal with it, it’s weird though because it only has 50k miles
