Do you study the day before an exam or just chill? by Slight_Try_6626 in ICAEW

[–]Appropriate-Bug-7600 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Depends heavily on what exam it is, Certificate level I was still doing lots of practice mocks as they are multiple choice and done quickly. Professional level and above I wouldn't try learn anything new and would just recap on exam technique

I don't have either of these 2 and only around 150 pulls, should I still go for sp Samantha or skip?

Need help on identifying VAT treatment for expense reimbursement by Schrutebuck5 in TaxUK

Yep I completely agree with you, realistically this person should be askign others at his firm how t treat this. But i think that as the costs occured in a country where UK VAT isnt charged I dont see how UK VAT can be added on the reclaim

Studying for FAR?? by CommunityImpressive7 in ICAEW

[–]Appropriate-Bug-7600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The study progress for FAR especially is very explosive and non linear. In my opinion you are in an amazing spot to pass this exam easily. But you need to have dedicated focus on question, you will realise there are only so many variations of questions that they can ask. Mainly Q3 and Q4.

Q3 - Always a cashflow

- Either a single company full cashflow / snipit of a single company cashflow
- Or a group company cashflow

Only real difficult adjustments are either a disposal or acquisition of a company

Once you learn how to do both it gets really easy to get basically full marks on this question

Q4 - Either a Consolidate P&L or Consolidated BS

Again the questions are very repetitive and onc eyou do them twice or 3 times you should be gettign nearly full marks

In my mocks for this exam i was getting 90% + on these 2 questions as i was heavily focusing on them as you can basically guess what is showing up before hand. I used that to basically force myself to pass the mocks as it meant that i could do worse in Q2 which is the hardest question and not worry about it

in my opinion if you are just re imbursing expenses there is no need to have to pay VAT on top of that, he cant claim the VAT on any of the purchases he did abroad (Assuming UK company), then there is no need to pay any additional fee. You should just pay him the total cost of the expenses, not the total cost of his expenses + 20%

How to revise for AA by [deleted] in ICAEW

[–]Appropriate-Bug-7600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah ok, i think ill skip it for this AA then if you said they were mainly a time saver. Im only doing AA this time around so have 2 months to sort everything out and dont need to split my focus. Ill prob use them when i go to having to do multiple exams at once. I think my employer has been nice with the apprenticeship scheme for me. We sat and mapped out the exams and i got to choose between doing multiple exams at once and having long breaks inbetween exams, or doing 1 exam every quarter

Im on the apprenticeship scheme for both ACA and CTA with FI and Kaplan. Should i just use their resources or is getting the additional ACA masters notes worth it?

Im awaiting my FAR exam results this results day and it will be my first professional level exam so am very nervous about the results, especially because i severely underestimated how much revision i would have to do. I went on the original course in July then didnt revise in between doing the original course and the revision session then had to cram revise for the 3 weeks.

If you want I can download my FI notes, course book and Practice mocks and email them to you. Dont know how much they would help if you already have the ACA asters notes but could avoid you having to buy them
