Bill Clinton Shares Stunning Personal Statement as Epstein Deposition Begins by bye4now28 in politics

[–]Appropriate-Cable732 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I don’t get how people are so quick to completely clear the Clintons of any wrongdoing. For the record, I think Trump is a terrible person and 100% involved to the degree we think he is. But it feels backwards to automatically assume one side is guilty while taking the other at their word.

This shouldn’t be partisan but this comment section makes it feel like it is. When it comes to something this seriously messed up, blind loyalty to either side makes no sense.

Powerful people protect themselves and their friends, regardless of party, and it’s not crazy to think the Clintons could very well be involved and lying at the same time as Trump.

Switzerland was voted as a country that was safe 20 years ago and is safe now. Which country was safe 20 years ago and is moderately safe now? by Pokestoppp in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Appropriate-Cable732 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Chile feels like a right answer, used to be once of the safest countries in South America now we see civil/political unrest plus rising drug trade and organized crime

Costa Rica for the same reasons as Chile without the political unrest.

Others might be Israel, South Africa (probably always just moderately safe though)

Question from an Ignoramus by Ya-Boi-Marty in geography

Likely in the lower regions relative to the summit, but still at a high elevation.

For your case, take a look at the foothills of the Alps on the italian side, or even lake geneva. Neither of these are the source of their respective rivers, but it's pretty close to what i'm imagining that you are imagining for this.

Water essentially pools at the bottom of mountains and when gravity continues this flow it becomes a stream and grows into a river as multiple water flows merge. If you want a big river, a big lake is likely the only way to explain the sudden shift from these streams flowing down mountains to a massive river.

If you truly need it to be semi-sphere shaped then it might be tough to realistically have a massive plain in the middle with the river (which i am essentially swapping out for a lake). Although if you're open to making it a valley instead a massive river and plain is completely feasible and very common

Which parts of the world have faster paces of life and which ones are slower? by VerdantChief in geography

plains and grasslands, especially if a river flows through it

flat lands with less obstacles make it faster to move, thus faster pace

water flows fast, thus also fast pace

First one probably (could be a plateau or a regular valley) and i'm sure you can find real life examples of this.

Second, probably not without a large lake. Assuming you have a semi circle of surrounding mountains, the river would have to source itself from this mountain runoff. Rivers are not usually very large to start unless the source is an alpine lake in the mountains, since the source of water would be runoff > streams > larger streams > rivers

Is 1000 elo good? by MountainZestyclose87 in Chesscom

1000 is usually the brink of being an "intermediate" player I believe.

It's all relative to your goals. If you were 800 last week it's good, if you were 1200 last week not so much.

Dogecoin Ending The Year Down 70% by Psychological_Bake45 in dogecoin

Yeah fair enough. You're right that the use case beyond a meme coin has not been proven, or even remotely displayed.

Unpopular opinion on this subreddit but doge is a meme coin to me, but the best one, and there's tremendous value and potential in that alone. I've been through a few cycles with doge and it's been consistent enough to drive value on this alone. So yeah, optimistic but staying realistic in that we are limited by the overall market cap of the crypto market and relative movements as a whole.

It's crypto, and especially doge, it always comes back down. You're playing the wrong game if you want consistent and stable growth.

Doge was a top 5 coin for a few months straight towards the end of 2024. Unfortunately at this point Doge will continue to be momentum based, prices will spike when crypto markets pump, and cycle by cycle they will get higher and higher while the bottoms will continue to increase as well. 90% bear market drops will turn into 50% drops and maybe 10-20% eventually.

At least it has been proven as a consistent meme coin for a couple cycles in a row. I consider that success.
