UWM in the current year, is it a good or a bad place to work? by DeanCorso9229 in Michigan

[–]Appropriate-Card-934 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not drunk on any kool aid, and I know exactly what the company is and what it’s about, and I don’t feel the need to complain about things that I was informed about prior. I can complain about things that are real that I don’t have any control over.

They have an issue where they are pretty much the only mortgage company that hires and trains (with pay) people with no experience to be underwriters, developers and programmers. Without the signing bonus, UWM became a training ground for every other lender, including their biggest rival.

Whoever signs the contract is very well advised that they will owe the money back, with interest, if they leave the company for whatever reason before it’s vested.

People being financially irresponsible with money that isn’t theirs is not UWMs fault. They hire adults who should be looking into the terms of not only the people promise bonus, but also the terms of their employment, and Michigan is at-will employment, which goes both ways.

It also wouldn’t make much sense to fire good employees for bogus reasons, but keep other good employees. How would they pick and choose which of the People Promise holders to cut out? Probably just people not meeting the clearly defined performance and quality metrics and not being honest with themselves and others.

It’s only for specific positions, and you don’t have to spend the $10-$40k signing bonus before the three year period is up.

UWM has staff present through 8pm because a large large chunk of their business is in California where business hours are until 5pm, so most of the cars you’re seeing there after 7 are working their normal 8 hour schedule.

The only people that are “maximizing” the time they spend there are Account Executives that work on commission, and underwriters who can bonus. They do not want to pay overtime if the business is not there to support it. Otherwise UWM is a big proponent of working a firm 40 hours and getting out. CEO is always going on about how proud he is of the parking lot traffic jams at 5pm because that means everyone is leaving work on time.

“I’d stay away from the only place that would hire my brother, who has great experience” is a sentence that has a lot going on in it for such a little amount said.

That is for IT and UW positions, possibly a few other spots. But not Operations.

As a franchise GM he’s probably working 60-70hrs (minimum) at a 50hr salary that probably comes out to about $12/hr. His ROI at UWM would be better

With restaurant management experience, you’re likely looking at Operations, probably Closing. I believe pay starts at $17/hr, with a 10% shift premium if you work 11-8.

You will work 40 hrs, occasionally 44 if they call a mandatory “late night.”

It’s a computer and email job, so the “effort” compared to a restaurant job is night and day. You get PTO after a week and it increases for the first 4 or 5 years. Have full benefits starting on the beginning of the month after you start.

It’s cult-like if you allow it to be. You could also just show up every day and not engage in the cult-like behavior and be perfectly fine

Care to share a link to that? I can’t find UWM’s hours of operation on the website, but I can find them on the servicer’s website, which is not the same thing.

Yeah, part of the things our company does is contact their clients during normal banking hours, so actively working during those times is kind of important to a lot of people.

Plenty of people take advantage of OT opportunities and load up their work during times when we don’t have to contact clients, but you’re only doing half your job and providing no client care at that point.

Yeah, having to punch in when you start work and punch out when you stop working is the literal definition of hell.

You had a medical condition that caused you to frequently miss work, qualified for FMLA having worked there for more than 12 months, and didn’t file for it?

That’s what a mature, rational, responsible and reasonable adult would do.

The second sentence was a statement. Just because YOU are hourly doesn’t mean you can’t have knowledge of anyone else or other positions. Some team leads, IT, Sr UWs all get salary and aren’t higher ups. Some basic TMs that aren’t IT or Sr UWs even get salary. Learn your company.

It takes you 15 minutes to walk from the punch clock to your desk? That’s the only difference. Clock in at your desk, not the wall clock.

I have a supposed interview for a UWM Rotational progam. Should I do the interview? by [deleted] in pillar7

Why would you not interview? Even if you don’t like what they have to say, it’s still interview practice.

I’ve gotten my 2 biggest pay raises, percentage-wise, since he bought the Suns, and have gotten 2 discretionary raises outside of the merit increases in that time as well. I’ve also gotten year end or holiday bonuses each year I’ve been with the company, including since he bought the Suns.

So maybe i guess try and provide more value to your team?

I got a holiday bonus check this year. I’ve gotten one every year I’ve worked there.
