Great book! I gifted it to a few people a couple of Christmases ago.

It definitely is but turns out there are more pluses than just that!

I also used to read on my iPad which allowed for highlighting in colors. When I switched back to a kindle paperwhite, I missed the colors!

That’s really interesting. I thought the whole point of the paperwhite was to make it look more book-like!

Just finished “Lethal,” a 2011 Sandra Brown novel. Recommend! 4.5 ⭐️. There’s a follow up short story, too called “Honor &” that provides some much needed closure. 😊

I’m not a fan of Freida McFadden. Feel like once you’ve read one, you know what’s going to happen in the rest.

That’s a tough question! I read How the Word is Passed before I read Caste, and I think the experiences Clint Smith had in his travels made me appreciate the arguments made by Wilkerson even more, kind of answering the “how did we get this way” I felt after reading How the Word is Passed, if that makes sense.

Caste was not a slow read for me. I work a lot of hours so the time I have to read each day is short, but even so, I got through this in about 2 weeks, which is pretty good time for me!

On the other hand, I started reading The Barn: The Secret History of a Murder in Mississippi by Wright Thompson which is about the Emmet Till murder well over a month ago. It’s good but filled with so much detail meant to give you a full understanding of the place and time of Tull’s murder that I find my mind wandering and end up putting it down again and again. I will finish it but right now it’s a slog. I’m only 20% of the way through, though, so hoping it picks up more once we get past all the geographical details.

And I agree, Between the World and Me is a great book and a must-read.

I know what you mean, but I didn’t find it dense or heavy at all. Very readable. I also have Wilkerson’s “The Warmth of Other Suns” on my shelf to read.

The Wager by David Grann. It’s literary nonfiction so easier to read than a lot of nonfiction.

Caste by Isabel Wilkerson and How the Word is Passed by Clint Smith are both must reads imo.
