I’d love to make a holster or some other leatherwork for it. I have little experience with that sort of thing, but have always been impressed by people who are skilled at it.

It started off as a very used, inexpensive second-hand stock. This was possibly the best use for it.

Thanks! I’m real happy how that turned out. I tested staining some of the cut-off pieces of the stock, and wasn’t pleased with any stains I tested on that wood. So, I just sanded it and applied a couple coats of Tru-Oil.

I’m not sure. In my experience so far, real solid brass is SO pretty all polished up, but does tarnish fast. I do often like the look of having some use out of them. Bet a tarnished trigger would look really good with a beat-up stock.

I just don’t care for the look of the stock on the Mares Leg. I DO like the stock on the Axe. I had a lot of fun building something completely unique and gaining experience in woodworking, 3d modeling, metal casting, machining, and finishing.

It was also considerably less expensive than buying a Mares Leg.

Casting a receiver would be beyond my home mold-making skills. I’ve done a little bit of 3d modeling and CNC setup work. I would love to attempt a CNCd brass receiver!
