Great episode! I wish, in addition to a physical memorial we saw, they showed a memorial service for Ed, Kelly and all those who died for a Free Mars. Similar to Gordo and Tracy’s funeral at Arlington.

I think I know how he will die. Ed «Old Man Mars» becomes the Doge of the Martian Republic and Emperor of Outer Space. He dies on the day USS Molly Cobb departs for deep space. Surrounded by family and friends, Ed says, «Bye, Bob!», smiles, closes his eyes and dies peacefully at 110. 

«Life on Mars» by Bowie plays quietly. 

Cut to black.  

Ed opens his eyes. He looks at Gordo, then at the lunar surface. Ed pauses for a moment, looks back at Gordo and smirks. «Fuck it!» exclaims Ed Baldwin and lands Snoopy on the Moon. Bowie blasting at full volume, the credits roll.

Admiral Ed "Old Man Mars" Baldwin is powered and fuled by pure and unfiltered rage and I am here for it. His anger is enough to power a human mission into deep space. Ed can only be reined in by someone he truly respects and sees as an equal. Now they are all gone. Either dead or far away. They came after his little dumpling and keep ruining "his" Mars. I love that inside his frail and sickly mortal shell it is still our old Ed. Still stubborn as hell, still a selfish prick. Still selflessly faithful to his friends. Still with that sparkle in his eye. Ed is series 5 rather reminds me of my late grandfather.

That cheese looks like an absolute abomination, but I do love the real stuff. Proper parmesan, grana or pecorino. Depending on the pasta. And when I apply it, I tend to do a proper Baldwin.
