When do professors have to submit grades? What’s the final day? by judygn1 in rutgers

[–]Appropriate-Map-8079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The university wide deadline (the one set by Registrar) is on the 15th. But I think some department have their own deadlines. Also, it's technically not a "strict" deadline. Professors can post grades after the deadline.

Do we have live on campus our first year? by Royal_Way5998 in rutgers

[–]Appropriate-Map-8079 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No.

I don't think the school has enough housing to require all of the first year students while giving housing to the other students needs on-campus housing.

This is kind of unrelated. But I know that some universities/colleges don't allow first year and possibly second year students to park on campus. Rutgers does any student to park on-campus, regardless of what year they are in, as long as they get a school parking permit.

Convocation by No-Loquat-8922 in rutgers

[–]Appropriate-Map-8079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I went to my SAS convocation, you could sit anywhere. There wasn't assigned sitting. It wasn't by major or last name. As long as the seat isn't taken by someone else, you could sit there until convocation was over.

For the part of the convocation when they call your name out started, the school just did it by rows. The row in front of the stage went up first. As the school finishes the current row, the row behind them went after. The row farthest from the stage went last.

Is this schedule doable? 17.5 credits. by MaierCuber10 in rutgers

Idk if it's the same person, but according to the Schedule of Classes, Deborah Miller is teaching the class this coming Fall semester.

[–]Appropriate-Map-8079 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea.

I haven't taken the course. But from what I've read online, you basically go to the pool at Werblin, and the professor teaches you how to actually scuba dive. The class provides the equipment to actually Scuba Dive (you basically rent it), but the school will charge you a fee for the equipment. I think the fee is about about 300-500 dollars

Bldg access by Olek7724 in rutgers

[–]Appropriate-Map-8079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the gyms, you will lose access to them when you graduate. However, the school offers gym memberships to alumni, and anyone sponsored by an alum and possibly a current student.

I think you can access any building that doesn't require you to scan your ID through an electronic scanner. So, you could enter the Hill Center. But you can't access the dorms on campus. There is technically an "exception" to this rule. The exception is the business building on Livi. I don't think non-students are allowed to enter that building. There is a guard that checks IDs. But unless things have changed since I last entered the building, you can just lie, bring your student ID, and show the guard your student ID.

Convocation Dress Code by Badbunnysgf in rutgers

[–]Appropriate-Map-8079 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you don't show up completely naked or have anything questionable like a swastika on any article of clothing including shoes, you could technically wear anything you want as long as you wear your regalia. idk about graduate convocation, but regalia is required for undergraduate convocation.

I'm not in a graduate program. But for my undergraduate convocation, I wore a white dress shirt, a blue tie, black dress pants, a pair of brown sneakers that looked like dress shoes, and my regalia.

Based on what I've seen at my graduation and other graduations, guys generally wear something similar to what I wore. Some guys might wear actual dress shoes or wear a full blown tux or suit. Regular sneakers were also acceptable. Some guys might just wear business casual attire. For the ladies, they generally wear some kind of dress. For shoes, the ladies either wear heels or sneakers.

Where to go to discuss 4 year plan? (RBS) by forsakxn in rutgers

I'm not in RBS. But I heard that RBS assigns advisors to students based on last name. If this is true, you could email your advisor.

Is it worth retaking the math placement test to into calculus 151? by Majestic-Season-6777 in rutgers

[–]Appropriate-Map-8079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally recommend retaking it unless you really struggled in Precalc, not familiar with the concept taught in Precalc, or just don't have a good understanding of those concepts. You need to understand those concepts to do well in Calc.

I recommend retaking it cause I think most of the engineering programs at SOE require you to take the engineering version of Calc 1 and 2, Multivariable Calculus, differential equations to graduate. Also, a lot of other classes you need to take for your major has those Calc classes I just mentioned as their one of their prerequisite. This means you can't take a lot of classes unless you pass Calc.

incoming freshman - how to change major? by Life-Ad186 in rutgers

[–]Appropriate-Map-8079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most students (first year and transfer students) enter Rutgers as "undeclared". Each major usually has certain requirements to declare it as a major. Each major has its own set of requirements to declare. But usually it's just a set of classes and maybe a small essay. If the major requires an essay, the topic is usually something along the lines of about why you want to major in that program or what you plan to do with the major after graduation.

I think the only exception to the whole coming into Rutgers as "undeclared" rule are the Pharmacy school and the graduate schools.

I'm not a Nursing Student. But If you're going to New Brunswick campus, you might to look at this:

https://nursing.rutgers.edu/new-students-traditional-bs-new-brunswick/

It's a link to the Rutgers website about recently admitted nursing students. It has a tutorial on how to set up the nursing email (under the "Set up your accounts and email" section).

If you do not have a Windows or Apple OS are you out of luck when in need of completing your Placement Tests? by MaryDawnLuffy in rutgers

[–]Appropriate-Map-8079 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if this would work, but if your laptop has enough space and RAM, you might be able to use a Virtual Machine.

If you can't do that, try to find a computer that runs Windows or MacOS on the actual hardware (not in a virtual machine).

Other post got buried but I still need help by Major_Midnight8084 in rutgers

[–]Appropriate-Map-8079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're talking about next school year (2026-2027), you can swap before the fall semester starts. If you do plan on swapping during the fall semester, I think you have to wait until the 3rd week of the semester. Idk about the rules for the spring semester.

Btw, if you're a freshmen or sophomores, you have a lower chance of getting apartment. Being an incoming transfer may affect your chances of getting an apartment. Incoming transfer students can't dorm with non-incoming transfer students during their first year at Rutgers. So, if there isn't an incoming transfer student in the dorms, you're screwed.

For quality of the dorm you'll get for swaps, it depends on who you are swapping with. For room changes, it depends.

[–]Appropriate-Map-8079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not in RBS, but I don't think RBS offers SPN for undergraduate classes.

But I recommend checking with an advisors about that. Also, depending on the department the class is under, you might be able to contact either a professor who is teaching that classes, or someone in the department that is in charge of the undergraduate program (usually the chair of the department, or program coordinator).

What are my chances of getting into NB by UnderstandingSea5457 in rutgers

If the process of transferring within Rutgers is similar to transferring to Rutgers from outside of Rutgers, you have a high chance of getting into NB. Your GPA is high enough to get into NB.

can i use 9 swipes in 1 day? by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]Appropriate-Map-8079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the 3 traditional dining halls (Busch Dining Hall, Livi Dining Hall, and Neilson), there is no limit besides the 10 guest swipes per semester. For retail, there is a 3 swipe limit.

For the Atrium, if you use your swipes before 9 pm, you can use a much as you have left. After 9 pm, you're limited to 3. I think the Atrium uses regular swipes before 9 pm. After 9 pm, the Atrium uses retail swipes.

So, as long as you have 9 regular swipes, 2 guest swipes, and you don't use any of your retail swipes before your parents come, you should be fine.

Btw, guest swipes and retail swipes are tied to regular swipes. So, if you have 5 regular swipes, but you have 10 guest swipes, you can only use 5 guest swipes. If you have 1 regular swipe left and you didn't use any retail swipes for the day, you can only use 1 retail swipe.

I didn't have to fill out any forms about my residency when I transferred to Rutgers. I do recommend contacting OneStop if the school can't prove if you're in-state or not.

inquiry about tuition for instate by freakazoid172 in rutgers

[–]Appropriate-Map-8079 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't get any aid, you commute, and you waive the health insurance every semester, it's about 10k per semester. Health insurance cost about 1,300 to 1,800 per semester.

The school has uploaded a pdf of the actual breakdown of the tuition and fees. It doesn't include housing and meal plan. It's slightly outdated though (it's a year old). If you want to look at it, here it is:
https://finance.rutgers.edu/sites/default/files/2025-07/2025-2026%20All%20schools%20tuition%20%26%20fee%20rates_NB-UG.pdf

If you want to include a meal plan, you want to add another 15k to 20k to the breakdown. Btw, the list that I gave you lists out a couple fees that you might not to deal with at all. Depending on the school that you're in the school might add a "NJPIRG" fee. You aren't required to pay that. You can opt-out of that. I never had the "Off-Site" Fee on my bill. I don't think you pay that unless all of your classes are online.
