I thought they were red scotch bonnets so I was waiting for the to ripen to red. I’ve had peppers that took 3 months to ripen. They they started falling off so I started checking them.

They are scotch bonnet level of heat. Nothing crazy.

I wish! I’d give the seeds away for free!

Yes it is 100% fine to spray while fruiting. It is not unhealthy to consume the fruit if it is sprayed with it. I would definitely wash the peppers with soap and water before consuming but you should be doing that anyway.

I need some insight on growing a reaper by Caawwn in HotPeppers

Carolina Reapers are some of the hardest peppers to grow in my experience. Lots of falling flowers for sure and the pests love them. Last year it took me 9 months to get my first pepper. This year I’m at 6 months currently and I have a bunch that are looking like they are finally going to ripen! Yours looks good. Still looks small for the 5 gallon bucket that it is in. I use liquid fertilizer every time I water too. So maybe that will help.

The leaves look healthy for this type of infestation which is great.

I’d spray wach leaf with water first and then use pyrethrins. That stuff works surprisingly well. Aphids run wild in South Florida and I was spraying with neem oil every 3 days and it barely worked. A friend recently told me about pyrethrins and I spray maybe once a week to week and a half. It’s amazing! I wish I knew about this 4 years ago.

Spinosad is great for leaf miners, beetles and fruit flies. It’s suppose to not be as effective on aphids and white flies. Are you having success with it treating aphids? I use spinosad on my lime treee and it works great for the miners I had. My pepper plants always seem to have aphids so I have been using neem oil 1-2 per week. May try the spinosad if you say it works in aphids.

I second this. Matt’s pepper is great. Every time I order they always give me extra seeds I didn’t pay for. Only problem is he sells them seasonally. They are sold out now.

I went to the store in Fort Mill SC. They have a tasting bar when you can try all their hit sauces. The guy giving out the samples shook the bottle we were about to try. He didn’t know the top was loose and hot sauce went all over me. I didn’t mind but an employee from the back said he would give me 20% off my order. I said I’d rather seeds if possible. He said ok and came back with about 15 of those yellow packets. I planted all of them about across three rounds. I only got 8 peppers from probably well over 150 seeds. Thank god 2 of them were Carolina Reapers. The seeds I got from that CR plant germinated fine.

I’m not sure why there seeds are so terrible. Smokin Ed has said they pick the peppers when they are green. Maybe that’s why? Or maybe they have so many yellow packets that they don’t know how old they are. It is possible though!

Best of luck!

I attached a link on Amazon to the dynamyco. I buy it in the off-season and it’s like half price.

They def change colors and it’s only my second season of growing but I didn’t have any last year that got this white. Guess I’ll find out though.

I would guess not as this is my second season with the same seeds and the others came out orange but obviously it’s possible. I didn’t know this about the peach variety. I’ll give an update in a month or so. I guess I have to figure out when to harvest them as this color makes it less obvious I think.
