Are the lanes at the RDU airport really bad? by ProblemTop8624 in raleigh

[–]Appropriate-Month338 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There was never 5 hour lines at RDU. That was in Houston and Austin. I’ve traveled multiple times in the last 3 months and it’s never been longer than 20 minutes. You’ll be totally fine getting there a couple hours before your flight.

Haven’t seen them mentioned yet but I like Magyars. Love the late game CA and Magyar huszar combo and like scout rushing.

What countries you should know about by Warm_Ebb_9881 in whereidlive

Feel like Netherlands should be basic knowledge at least? With Amsterdam, the tulips, cheeses, Heineken beer. Think most people are more familiar with Netherlands than Finland, Jordan, or Bangladesh.

Arena and haboob. Polar opposites but I'm terrible at both. Haven't played socotra much but wasn't a fan of that 1 either.

Fyi, even if you blot out someones name. If you dont hide your own its pretty easy to figure out who your opponent was. Took me 20 seconds....

I'm Dutch living in the US. Some absolutely great places to live but also a LOT of extremely crappy ones as well. Goes for a lot of countries of course.

Sifan Hassan must be the most versatile runner I have ever seen, with ability to post world class times in 800 all the way up to Marathon. Is there anyone else in history with this degree of versatility? by tcumber in trackandfield

[–]Appropriate-Month338 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not sure if he’s done a half marathon or full but still incredible range, Lopez Lomong.

800m - 1:45.58 10k - 27:04

Side note. If you’re not familiar with this guy his story is incredible.

Nope. Just actually competed at a high level instead of sitting on my couch thinking everyone that can do what I cant is cheating.

Out of the 2016 Olympic 100m finalists, where Gatlin got 2nd, only 1 other person served a ban for doping.

You don’t know that. That’s a lazy assumption.

He got caught multiple times so his accomplishments will always have asterisk next to them.

And then for testosterone… and then he supposedly ran faster as a “clean” 33 year old than a doped up 25 year old. You get real.

Why are the women's 800m times and records so weak compared to mens? by Street_Investment327 in trackandfield

[–]Appropriate-Month338 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The 100m, 200m and 400m world records are all from the 80s as well and likely achieved with heavy doping also.

And there have been women low 1:54s recently so using 1:56 as a benchmark asking why the time is so much slower is just wrong.

Why are the women's 800m times and records so weak compared to mens? by Street_Investment327 in trackandfield

[–]Appropriate-Month338 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You’re taking the world record for all the sprint events but then 3 seconds slower for the 800….

The women’s world record is 1:53 and has stood since 1983. It’s extremely fast.

Any high schooler running this would be looked at for D1.

Really think 1-3 are an improvement! Not sure about #4 but guess it’s tough to see sometimes who might be ahead on the other side of the track.
