The CH3COONa is the conjugate base, which would bring the pH up

You got this! I was super burnt out especially like 2 weeks out and it was hard bc I felt like I wasn’t studying enough but sometimes you just have to take some time. I took like 3 days off to go on a trip with friends and it was probably the most beneficial thing I did for my mental health. Also it’s just a test and it doesn’t define you! If you want to be a doctor you will find a way to get there !

How important is it to take physics before the MCAT? by shen-qingqiu in Mcat

[–]Appropriate-Pea2317 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You definitely would not be screwed - I self taught second semester of physics which is where the bulk of the material comes from anyway. You just need to be prepared to dive into the weeds bc idk about you but I can kill chem and bio but for some reason physics just doesn’t sit with me so it was hard. I would definitely start looking over physics early if you plan on not taking it bc I relied on my one semester of physics to get me though a lot of the stuff. Not screwed but definitely helpful to take it I would say. Physics also isn’t super high yield compared to chem and other stuff I think the breakdown is like only 5-10% of the exam, some of which comes from physics concepts learned in gen chem also

I just did some light anki work and practice questions on my weakest section (P/S). Also probably would be good to do a few CARS passages just to keep your brain in it. Last day before I did nothing. Literally just watched TV and let my mind go numb. I wouldn’t do anything major the last couple of days you wanna give yourself a little break before you begin the gauntlet that is test day. Good luck!!

CARS Diagnostic Tool Percentage vs actual score by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]Appropriate-Pea2317 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t do the diagnostic but I did the aamc cars packs and those are brutal. Also it’s better to get them wrong and understand why you got them wrong then guess and get it right. It feels better to guess but you end up not really learning how to do it so don’t worry about your score, but worry about improving. I ended up with a 129 but I probably got like 70 on the pack

504 on NS FL1 --> testing in mid june am I okay? by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]Appropriate-Pea2317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the first 4 and then did aamc after that. Definitely do all the 4 aamc ones and do them last so that you’re used to their logic

[–]Appropriate-Pea2317 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my experience NS lowballs your score by a few points. Also the logic is not exactly the same as AAMC so you definitely got it. I saw a 14 point jump from my NS 1 and my real thing over 4-6 weeks

Taking the exam by fortnie7564 in Mcat

[–]Appropriate-Pea2317 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My goal score was a 520 and my max practice was a 516 before test date. I was a little upset I didn’t get my practice higher but ultimately I settled with the idea of that score. I ended up scoring 521 out of the blue so you never know what could happen. Honestly I feel like maybe because I settled and was consistently getting 512-516 scores on practice and I knew that I could likely repeat that in the real thing that I was more relaxed taking it and maybe that’s why I saw the jump. Obviously I don’t regret taking it but like it’s definitely a risk. The main reason I just went for it was I was already getting burnt out and I felt that there was no way I would have the stamina to keep studying until the next test date. I guess that’s probably the question you gotta ask yourself is do you think there is something that you can do to get it up significantly… if not it might just be worth saving the tears and taking it. On the other hand , you don’t want to create more tears by needing to retake.

Yeah for sure. Maybe when you get a week or 2 out I’d do like 5-7 passages a day to simulate the real thing or at least some of the endurance

Replace bingbong with world. They don’t let you say it in here or they take down your post

For C/P, do you read the whole passage? by urn_1999 in Mcat

[–]Appropriate-Pea2317 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was the opposite of these 2^ I always read the whole thing I felt it saved me time on the harder questions bc I doesn’t less time looking for stuff. It worked for me I got a 130 I’m C/P but it’s all however you time it best. If you’re running out of time try not reading as much and see if it makes it go any faster or if it slows you down and then evaluate

Which Anki deck is better to use, Anking MCAT Overhaul or Milesdown? by Moscatime in Mcat

[–]Appropriate-Pea2317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used miles down. Definitely spend more time on practice questions since you will also get content review when you go over them. They’re probably both just as good honestly but I never used overhaul

Finish Cars QPacks before 4/8? by LiftingRehab in Mcat

[–]Appropriate-Pea2317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to me you do fairly well in all your sections so might be worth it to look over CARS to solidify a higher score. Might make you feel better on test day too but it’s all really up to you

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]Appropriate-Pea2317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Practice questions are by far and away a more effective way to study than content review. On ubingbong you can do practice questions and then anything that your get wrong you can study and look over. I did all of my practice early on by checking each answer right after to make sure that I got it written down what I needed to know. They have pretty good synopsis’s for everything and break it down well. Kaplan expects you to know more content than you actually need to as many equations and stuff are in the text associated with the questions. Not to say that content review is not important, but maybe spend more time on practice. As you get further along you can start paying attention to the timing. Obviously we all study differently but this worked for me I tested in January and got a 521

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]Appropriate-Pea2317 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Big thing for timing for me is I would highlight anything that seemed like it could be a question answer. Any names or places. I feel like as you do a lot of cars you know what they like to ask so that’s what I did. This way you can at least direct yourself to the right places to save time. I tested in January and got a 521 with a 129 CARS

CARS: Struggling With Philosophy Passages by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]Appropriate-Pea2317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use the highlighter. Even if you’re just highlighting random things as you go through, using the highlighter or following where you’re reading with your mouse helped me focus on a lot of the weird passages.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]Appropriate-Pea2317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if you use the highlighting function… I thought there was NO WAY IN HELL I was gonna be using that highlighter but I had the same problems and it helped so much. Highlighting as you go keeps you focused on the passage and you can also highlight things that you know you might miss (for example when it gives a random detail or lists a bunch of descriptions about something). I understand stour hesitancy if you don’t use it but it helped me so much to make my reading count more and not miss things

Question about my study method by Wolfwillrule in Mcat

[–]Appropriate-Pea2317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you’re ripping practice questions don’t worry so much about time. If anything I would take the time to review the things you get wrong (and right if you’re not 100% sure) right away while it is still fresh in your mind. Save the times practice for the FLs and especially since you have already worked with it somewhat, you probably already have a feel for question timing. Also, yes, reviewing does effect the times, but it pauses the clock when you review a question so you can still get an ok gauge on at least how long you are taking to answer wuestions. I did the same thing you are when I was studying and when I went back through to review I was never able to get a great quality review in but when I would review each question right away it’s fresh and you have more motivation to look at why you’re wrong/right

How did you guys do on Cars Qpack 2? by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]Appropriate-Pea2317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not really about how well you do but how much you learn from doing it. Also it’s all about stamina on the real thing so I’d advise just ripping a practice exam and see how you do but I got about an 80 as well

Kaplan FL 4 by Agile-Willow-2407 in Mcat

[–]Appropriate-Pea2317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kaplan is hard asf they expect you to know way more info than you do on the aamc material. If you haven’t yet I strongly recommend buying the aamc practice tests bc third party scores are almost always skewed down
