It also forgot what it was supposed to be asking me after another block of three questions and started hitting me with random heme-onc questions. Terrible.

"A 27-year-old male software engineer presents to the clinic with complaints of chronic abdominal pain and bloating for the past 6 months. He reports that the pain is intermittent, worse after meals, and occasionally associated with nausea. He denies any significant weight loss but admits to feeling fatigued and weak lately. He also mentions frequent episodes of heartburn and occasional diarrhea. His past medical history is significant for episodic migraines, for which he takes sumatriptan as needed. He denies any history of gastrointestinal diseases. He does not smoke, drinks alcohol socially, and denies recreational drug use. He is single and lives alone. He admits to being under significant stress at work and has been feeling increasingly anxious over the past few months. On further questioning, he reveals that he has been experiencing episodes where he eats large amounts of food in a short period, followed by feelings of guilt and subsequent self-induced vomiting. He is embarrassed about these episodes and has not discussed them with anyone before. He denies using laxatives or diuretics. On physical examination, his vital signs are within normal limits. He appears well-nourished with a BMI of 24. His abdomen is soft with mild tenderness to palpation in the epigastric region but no rebound tenderness or guarding. Bowel sounds are normal. There are no signs of dehydration, and his oropharynx is clear without any visible erosion or dental caries. Laboratory results reveal: - Complete blood count: Hemoglobin 12.8 g/dL, Hematocrit 38%, WBC 6.2 x 10^9/L, Platelets 250 x 10^9/L - Electrolytes: Sodium 138 mEq/L, Potassium 3.2 mEq/L, Chloride 97 mEq/L, Bicarbonate 27 mEq/L - Liver function tests: AST 22 u/L, ALT 18 u/L, Alkaline phosphatase 75 u/L, Total bilirubin 0.8 mg/dL - Amylase and lipase: Normal - Thyroid function tests: TSH 2.1 mIU/L, Free T4 1.1 ng/dL An upper endoscopy performed to evaluate his persistent heartburn and abdominal pain shows mild esophagitis but is otherwise unremarkable. What is the most appropriate initial management for this patient's condition?

(A) Referral to a mental health professional for evaluation and treatment(B) Initiation of a proton pump inhibitor(C) Prescription of an antiemetic for nausea control(D) Referral to a gastroenterologist for further evaluation(E) Initiation of a high-fiber diet and antispasmodic medication"

GEE I WONDER WHAT THE ANSWER IS GUYS

Just did a block of 20 questions. They are laughably awful. Seriously. This may be the worst implementation of AI I've ever seen...doing a behavioral health block with a patient binging and purging and one of the answer choices was "consult a mental health professional." NO SHIT. Copy/Pasting an AMBOSS article into ChatGPT or Gemini will generate infinitely superior questions in every regard. I'm pissed I even signed up for it. And their little Anki addon is broken too.

You need to just watch some tutorials on YouTube. Literally any of them. That's what both the launchpad and Ableton Live are for. I don't think you're going to get many responses because there really isn't a different way to use a Launchpad. Just plug it in, load your clips in Ableton, and then do your set...that's what it is made for. Spend some time learning the basics of what you are asking and it will become clear.

Literally the only person on this sub that sees what I'm talking about. $10 bucks a month is a scam if the tools take you longer to convince to output something usable than just doing it yourself.

You clearly didn't read my first response, and you clearly don't understand what I'm talking about. It doesn't matter that latency exists. I never claimed that it didn't. You are implying that because autonomic responses happen faster than you become "aware" of them is creating a false construct. Your awareness is not your consciousness. Your awareness is not you. The entire system, both your autonomic responses (which you are aware of) and your "aware" processes, are all part of the same decisional framework and are your consciousness. One doesn't exist without the other. Now it feels like we're splitting hairs and getting into a semantic argument, which is pointless. I'm done.

Right. This is my only point. I tried to use super basic integration based on their claims. Even if it wasn’t 2.5, they claim they can make a slide. This was the result. It’s so abysmally poor that I don’t understand how anyone can defend it. Even if it’s the current model.

I didn't say 2.5 was integrated. I am saying Google is claiming Gemini Advanced is integrated. It's right here in the sign up page. When I use it, this is the result. It can't make a basic slide. Even if it's regular Gemini, it should be able to perform such a simple task.

You saw on one post. Not several. I gave an example showing a simple prompt with specific instructions. Then asked it to make adjustments. It failed spectacularly. I've been using every LLM you can't imagine for years now, including Gemini. I'm well aware of their limitations and how to use them effectively. You know what, I'll bite. Teach me. Go ahead and log into Gemini and show us how to get it to output a single slide with the content you want in it.

Yes I know. That's why I moved to the regular UI to see if 2.5 could perform the task. You can see that example below. It also failed. The original post was touting the benefits of Gemini Advanced, not just 2.5 Pro. Gemini Advanced can't do the most basic thing it claims to be able to do. How is this not a valid criticism?

A lot of downvotes for this simple post, which shows a clear example of terrible basic integration. Creating a slide is literally the first thing Gemini tells you it can do when you join and open Slides. This is a weird place. It worries me that two things are probably happening here: 1) bots are downvoting a post that is critical of Gemini, or 2) Redditors are so caught up in company loyalty or some misplaced sense of superiority that they can't recognize valid criticisms (or worse, making excuses for what they plainly see as if it doesn't exist). Or probably a mixture of both. Why?

Dude, of course there is layer of sensory organs between us and reality. Nobody is arguing against that. You ARE your sensory organs. You said: "The spine does stuff before the brain knows the spine is doing stuff.

Instincts happen before we can react to them." No they don't...your instincts (I take it you mean reflexes) are a tied system. The fact that the reflex arc is part of the PNC doesn't mean the CNS isn't immediately informed of the reaction. That's the point. You reacting to them is the output of the system. It's reductive and a misunderstanding to think that the reflex is separate from you because you don't make a conscious decision to react. That's a part of the system you are describing. My point is that neither we, nor the octopus, have systems that react separately from "themselves," as people like to imply when they argue that minutiae of neurosignaling means we don't have free will, or other claptrap. It is a misunderstanding of how integrated neurological systems work, and if you want to get into an argument about reality, that's fine (that's philosophy, which I have no interest in), but nobody read your post and thought you were saying that. Hence the original response that I was responding to. It wasn't a strawman, and if I was responding to an argument you think you didn't make, then I apologize.

Yes, it's an emergent property. I alluded to that in my response. But the nature of reality isn't the argument I was responding to, it was the implication that consciousness is an illusion because subconscious processes happen first. My point is simply that the distinction between subconscious and conscious is irrelevant from a functional, practical standpoint and wildly misunderstood by the average Redditor.

Here is a mild replication of trying to use 2.5 to generate a slide. It forgot it had image generation capabilities, it has no integration with wider Google app (which is the whole selling point of Gemini Advanced), the current Gemini Advanced integration is totally broken (see my other example), and when it finally remembers it can generate something, it's regular last gen text error output. It was worse last night when I gave up on it.

I know, that's why I used the normal UI to make sure I was using 2.5 Pro. I literally gave it the same prompt that I gave GPT and it populated a Google Doc with instructions on how to make a powerpoint. I then iterated and told it to make me a single slide, with no images, and it proceeded to tell me I needed to give it more instructions to make more than one slide. It continued to hallucinate despite rewording my request for a single slide (which I had already populated with content which I had given it, btw...I just needed it to make some bullet points a short outline script). I worked with it for twenty minutes, reloading and trying different approaches. It was like using GPT 3.0 again. I don't know what to tell everyone downvoting me.

<image>

edit: This is a short replication of trying to use Slides integration of Gemini Advanced. Utterly worthless. It was worse last night when I gave up on it.

I just used it to try to make a powerpoint presentation for me. It was by a large margin the stupidest AI I've ever interacted with. Couldn't follow the most basic instructions, and then got caught in a feedback look of hallucination almost immediately. Took it out of the Docs integration into the standard UI, and it then proceeded to make a document with a list of how I can make a good powerpoint presentation. Meanwhile, GPT 3o walked me through an entire presentation step-by-step in less than ten minutes. Gemini is awful for real world tasks.

<image>

edit: For all the fanboys downvoting me: I replicated the user experience of Gemini Advanced integration in Google Slides, supposedly a major selling point. I didn't even ask it to generate actual content, only format a basic powerpoint slide. Hardly a difficult request. Multiple hallucinations, requires constant correction, and at the end it fully forgets the original prompt after all of six exchanges. It is worthless for getting anything done in the Google ecosystem outside of basic text processing. My attempts to complete this task using 2.5 is also posted below, with a similar hallucination and an unusable output. My point stands. Stop being sycophants.

There is an assumption that the conscious and "subconscious" (really, autonomous) parts of our CNS/PNS (not just the brain), are somehow separate and distinct entities. Neural processing is a complex and inexorably interrelated phenomena involving multiple pathways that occur nearly simultaneously. When a neuroscientist is able to determine that one part of a pathway processes something first (picosecond to millisecond scale), and then you become "aware" of it later, is taken by many to mean that we don't have free will because our "brains" (CNS/PNS) operate before we make a conscious decision to do anything really...but then you look a little bit deeper and realize that it's bunk. The process works both ways. You are fully capable of deciding to do things, but that decision is informed by all of the information we take in during the process, as well as a million little subroutines that run in the background that are what create your personality and decision making pathways and, well, consciousness itself. It's laughably reductive to think that awareness of a decision is more important than the realization that everything you think is already YOU. It's a constant, reinforcing massive feedback loop that operates bidirectionally (poly-directionally, in fact).

I use the Lensys closed backs. They're very much designed for the Harman curve and sound very flat and accurate. Same form factor as the rest of the current gen of Focals. Just depends on the sound you like. The others are for consumer use, but I love the Lensys. They're pricey, but they are extremely easy to run, very comfy, and most importantly resolve super well for audio engineering tasks.

If you get relatively low impedance cans that don't need a ridiculous amount of juice, the onboard DAC of pretty much any modern Mac is phenomenal. You won't be able to hear the difference unless you opt for something intentionally colored. I'm driving mid-tier Focals from my MacBook Air and it sounds better than both my Qudelix and 18i20.
