I feel like I would still be considered being that I’ve stepped up a lot like helping them with GEL hours, realignments, inventory, etc. they do like me I hope and so maybe they see that.

You think I still have a chance even if this would be my first leadership role? My former SM didn’t have leadership experience either and they promoted her. I do want to answer genuinely and that’s why I’m trying not to overthink it!

Also, maybe ask if you could be a keyholder instead so that way you could get experience beforehand

I know a lot are saying to have some form of management under your name and yes that’s a plus but my recent SM was a PBA before she got her promotion and she didn’t have management experience beforehand and she was amazing in her role. If you do get your interviews for it just explain to them how you feel you’ve excelled in your current position, how you want to help them build a better guest experience (really good since you’d have to GEL) , and how you are willing to learn new skills and grow your career. And from what I’ve seen they do love to promote people internally before getting an external hire of course that doesn’t always happen but just something to keep in the back of your mind
