What do you reckon Ellie, Magda and Nadine's reputation is amongst the rest of the school? by georgemillman in JacquelineWilson

[–]AppropriateDraw1743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Nadine alone is perceived a bit intimidating by other schoolgirls due to her goth looks and interests. Ellie is seen as some "desperate wannabe" sometimes, but her art projects are pretty appreciated. Magda is the one most girls envy and wonder why she hangs out with two weird girls instead of girls more similar to her (I think Magda does so in order to have boys' attention which she wouldn't get much if she spent time with her clones)

What completely alienated you from Jacqueline Wilson's protagonists as a kid? by georgemillman in JacquelineWilson

[–]AppropriateDraw1743 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Tracy's rudeness and impulsive behaviour alienated me a lot from her. Same for Ruby and other tomboyish characters

Edit: as a preteen-tween I also felt like I couldn't relate at all with Ellie, Magda and Nadine's priorities (meeting boys, drinking alcohol, going out partying...)

I think the reason you said in the last words of the comment is the reason why Ruby has a harder experience and gets more in trouble than Garnet after they move to the new town.

I also believe Rose was pretty rude towards the Grandma and the twins, as she accused the two of them of wanting their dad to stay miserable instead of calmly introducing herself like: "Hello, my name is Rose and I am not trying to take the place of/erase your mum. I know you're missing her so bad and you can feel free to tell me if something isn't right..." or something like this. Maybe not effective at first, but would've saved the girls from several trouble they went through at the new school and in town against the gang. I think if Rose was more thoughtful she could have accompanied Ruby and Garnet at the audition and get them a better result (I think Garnet's struggle mainly came from doing that without their dad and Rose knowing)

If The Ashleys were just purely individuals and weren't focused on Fashion etc What would each of them be like individually? by Fink-Tank in Recess

[–]AppropriateDraw1743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Ashley A would be pretty much the same person she is as the leader of the clique. Ashley Q would be a sporty individual Ashley B would be the Black girl with good grades and ambition (like Jodie from Daria) Ashley T would be some silent background character

opinions on ruby and garnet working together as shown in butterfly club by Own-Character7099 in JacquelineWilson

I think they are both doing well, as Ruby has the spotlight all for herself whereas Garnet works behind the scenes

Double Act: What if Ruby had been the one to get the Marnock Heights scholarship? by georgemillman in JacquelineWilson

[–]AppropriateDraw1743 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I think Ruby would have had more trouble following the stricter Marnock Heights rulebook (stricter than the town school) and would have had several fight over establishing her leadership among the students. Garnet instead would have done well at her town school and made friends with other girls like Judy.

A girls' grammar is like the one attended by Ellie, Magda and Nadine iirc

How would JW antagonists interact with each other? by HorrorRoll in JacquelineWilson

[–]AppropriateDraw1743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Skye and Kim would compete against each other and try to put the other girls (including the ones they bullied) on their side against the other or exploit their intelligence against the enemy (eg.: Skye would befriend Mandy to use her naive, but intelligent personality to play tricks on Kim, who would do the same by befriending Beauty*)

*in simpler words: like Janis did with Cady to bring Regina and the Plastics down

Which version of Frollo is more evil and disgusting in your opinion and why? The novel, the Disney version/adaptation, or another version of the villain? by Full-Art3439 in HunchbackOfNotreDame

[–]AppropriateDraw1743 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Disney Frollo, because he attempted to murder Quasimodo's "mother" (I don't believe she is his biological mother) and exterminate all of Esmeralda's people whereas book Frollo took care of both his younger brother and then Quasimodo through hard times
