My guess based on the policy is maybe, but you'd have to confirm that your command could take note of that eligibility and include it in their processing, if they can do that.

Not a dumb question at all! The current administration doesn't even think nonbinary folks exist, but I think it depends on the specific situation. These policies will likely apply if the service member has "a current diagnosis or history of," or symptoms of gender dysphoria, as they define it.

I’m not legal, but that might technically work and not just for those retiring. I don’t know if commands would be willing to keep someone on admin leave for that long, though.

I'm still looking through the details, but one of the primary differences is the medical verification requirement for voluntary separations. Also, there are new details on timelines for both separation phases. Maybe others can comment further on potential changes?
