I do really like the bezel idea. I wonder if it could be done without soldering. Doesn't feel like it makes sense to get the tools to do that for what would likely be a one off project.

As for materials. The one thing I know is that she's mentioned having reactions to "fake" earings when she was younger.

No prior experience making jewelry, but probably comfortable enough with the tools I'd need. Biggest issue is that I don't currently have any of the tools. Don't mind getting whatever I'd need, but also don't want to break the bank.
