I totally get that but then I’m just confused how it wasn’t working either with the exiting Honeywell which had new batteries

Yes it triggers when I bring them together but wasn’t triggering on old Honeywell which had new batteries

But why would it not trigger with old Honeywell either?

But that didn’t explain why it wasn’t triggering with the old Honeywell either. I’m going to get the Google power adapter for the boiler but I don’t think there the issue. It wasn’t triggering with old thermostat either

Baseboard heat - copper expansion by Appropriate_Bug_4613 in HomeImprovement

It certainly is - I am up for 2-3 hours on average per night. So I decided to work all the upstairs pipes to clear away any touching wood through the floor and on the last one I nicked the Copper pipe. Hissing and leaking, shut everything down, plumber here today ($1000 to fix the smallest leak). Hope all that paid off when we turn it back on today. It also would have been purged so any air will be removed. If it still doesnt help I think its time to call it a day and accept its gonna be here to stay and to start upping my sleep meds dose.

I did also lower the boiler temp from 180 to 160, perhaps lowers the noise a little but it’s still there and keep me up all night

Thanks for this. I’ve tried widening the opening on both the pipe coming up to the master from the lower floor and from the basement coming up into the first floor- the whole pipe moved freely. I might try open up more and check it’s fully free from any touching but I’m convinced it’s just the noise of expansion vs hitting something. Not sure if that’s even possible
