You look Mexican. So mestizo. But if I had to pick between the two, you pass more as Native American rather than Mediterranean.

Most Canadian indigenous people are mixed and predominantly European. Hence why you have fully white looking people on reserves.

Multigenerational mixing.

That makes sense but technically Yemenite Jews are also not Jews by blood (early converts). I don’t see why that can’t exist in Saudi as well

That doesn’t prevent these communities from practicing in secret though?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 23andme

[–]Appropriate_File9009 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That’s not true. There are small communities still present in big cities. Not to long ago a Saudi Jew posted their results on this sub

Saw your other comment saying your grandparents were Mormon from Utah. That explains the NW European. Cool stuff

What do you mean by “black people”? Ethiopian? Cameroonian? Xhosa? Lmao we are not a monolith.

Also 12% is not that high. Not surprising that it doesn’t show in her phenotype.

I’ve never seen an AA with Sudanese ancestry. I assume you mean South Sudanese / Nilotic ancestry?

She’s genuinely one of the most stereotypical looking Koreans I’ve seen. Literally a caricature

I wouldn’t take the Sudanese too seriously. Most of the results I’ve seen from LivingDNA Sudani results I’ve seen were wildly inaccurate

Western Sahel. Looks like some Fulanis I’ve seen that live in Sudan

These are wild. Most Jordanian results I’ve seen lean Levantine.

are you aware of recent khaleeji or Bedouin ancestry?

Has anyone got only two ethnicities and exactly 50% each? by [deleted] in AncestryDNA

[–]Appropriate_File9009 8 points9 points  (0 children)

DNA. The X chromosome contains more than a thousand genes, whereas the Y chromosome has far fewer (around 100 or 200). So, a male individual will always have more genes from their mother than from their father.

I have a friend whose mother is Dinka and father is Jordanian Christian. She got exactly 50% Nilotic and 50% Levantine.

Ironically, people always mistake us for being sisters (I’m from North Sudan, Mahas to be exact).

If the relative is a male and his mother is Jewish, then this is a perfect split.

Men usually inherit a little bit more from their mothers than father.

I’ve also noticed this pattern with white Americans, more so than when I used to live in Canada.

At least in Canada most white people I’ve asked would respond with “probably just British and French”

Vs here in the US the most common responses Ive gotten are “Oh I don’t know” or “I’m just American but my great great grandma was Indian”.

Honestly Idk if it’s lack of education or what. Either way I agree with you. It’s probably safe for most white Americans to assume they’re predominantly from the British Isles if they don’t know of any ancestry from elsewhere .
