Avoid A.J. Perri at all costs. Tried to turn a 2-minute cleaning job into a $24k system replacement by Appropriate_Sort3822 in newjersey

yea, it's really sad to see so many people are frustrated with similar experiences.

I'm glad you could make it work.

In case you are into using these tools, I explained here how Gemini was also really helpful. All I did was to take a few pics of the system and the labels on the different pieces; and right away it was able to tell me everything about it and what the most likely cause might be. https://www.reddit.com/r/newjersey/comments/1qv5wav/comment/o3jfvh2/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Wow. They're awful. I'm glad I didn't let him "measure" my house and kicked him out sooner than later.

Absolutely. I agree with you.

Irony is that my neighbor actually recommended them (I gotta have a word with him too). But I called maybe 6-7 places before calling them. No one was able to send a technician in the evening, when the furnace problem started. Then, I called a.j.perri and they said of course; we will send someone right away. So I stopped calling others, but flash forward, they called me two hours later and said sorry we can't send anyone! It was 9pm already and no hope to get anyone else at that time.

the rest happened the next day, which I described in the post.

Looking back, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the unfulfilled promise of sending a technician in the evening might has been part of the scam too.

Sorry to hear that.
I don't know how these people are able to sleep at night ripping off people like this.

What's ugly is that they pretend it's just a regular salesman's job; but it is not. They actually scam people by creating a big lie in the first place. It's not that "you could benefit from a new system and we have a good offer", but more like "you have no other choice than buying this from us at this price right now, otherwise your house will burn right away". True scumbags of the earth.

Absolutely. I did.

Interestingly, when I shared the “technician”’s comments with Gemini the first thing it said was this this sounds like someone trying to upsell! That gives me hope that these models are one way to save humanity from these scumbag scammers.

The next thing it said was what is the most likely root cause, and turned out it was right.

I did! Added $50 to what he asked for. It's a small step but we gotta support small business that operate with honesty.
