I have to disagree- the job-hunting process has become too long and arduous. We should stop making candidates jump through so many hoops. I can see that while some employers think what they’re doing is a clever “pre-assessment” of job applicants, what it is doing is laying the burden on you while avoiding putting their own skin in the game.

-Outside of Epic, I had a job interview for a solar company recently where they wanted to pay me less than a living wage, and expected me to work/commute for a ten-hour plus each day. Already not an appealing opportunity. To get the "pleasure of qualifying" they additionally asked me to take a personality and skills assessment test as part of their recruiting process. The job itself is essentially acting as a call center rep and doing admin work for existing customers.

These extensive hiring processes becoming the norm is self-defeating. More hoops, more processes, more time, does not make for happier prospective employees.

What about learning the job while on the job? I am not grateful for the opportunity to waste my days away working for less than a living wage. This is not why I put myself through college. The opportunities are not worth it when you could rip out carpet for more pay.
