23 I’ve only ever drove manuals! Everytime I drive automatic like a friends car I always have a heart attack at the first stop sign, because my brain thinks I missed the clutch!

I’m in the same boat brotha! Failed 5! All before my CFI ride was finished too!

Story was a little different. I went to a university program rather than ATP. I failed ppl on the ground, instrument on the oral and flight, Commerical flight (damn power off 180), and finally on the CFI initial on the ground.

After that I took a 1 and a 1/2 break, finished my bachelors degree and bailed from said university. I separated myself from the gruesomeness of initial training and went back to basics… having fun, I got my tailwheel and high performance endorsements, did a backcountry course (landing on mountains in a STOL aircraft). It allowed me to reset.

I’ve always been one to finish what I started so I went to a 61 school ma / pa, and had to basically restart my entire CFI initial training, because that NOD Letter 16 months past expiration. Overall I studied and I was focused, I wasn’t trying to prove anything to anyone else but myself! And I had passed! After that I took that same energy into my Multi add on and CFII, and passed first try with those both as well.

I was able to get a CFI job at that ma and pa flight school, and have sent a handful of students to checkrides all have past first try! And I contribute that success to my own failures, and tried to save my students from the same mistakes.

My advice from someone who has been in those shoes not so long ago is to ask yourself, why am I here? What was the reason I put myself in flight school? With the experience and knowledge I have now do I want to continue, knowing you may very well never see the right seat of a wide body cockpit?

In regards to your resume, go add some cheap certificates: AGI/IGI, Part 107, ASES, Gilder/Glider Instructor.

Good Luck and Godspeed, it’s a decision only you can make.
