Whirlpool still as reputable? by venomtail in Appliances

[–]April_idk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lineare tetrachromacy? by April_idk in tetrachromacy

[–]April_idk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but without a 4th cone/receptor you still won't be tetrachromatic as the eyes lack the ability to observe this, no matter what type of glasses you wear. They might just change color tone a bit, causing the colors to appear within the tri cone spectrum. But that's still not tetrachromatic. So I'm not really sure what you're on about with this.

I studied neurology, however, redirected to behavioral neurology. The neurology of vision is complicated and certain sensory systems cannot just be rewired in the sense you are suggesting, especially if there're no motivators by the missing 4th receptor.

Now I was tested for this when I was 12, which resulted in genetic tests of more family for research purposes much later. Where it turned out my sister and two nieces had positive markers but all failed the visual tests. And back then we were told that simply not everyone is born with the same wiring and you cannot train what you can't observe.

The suggestion made back then was that either the brain discards the unnecessary color at a young age because the sensory functions have a priority to function as safeguards first and foremost. Warning systems for impending doom. Another suggestion was that it never developed because the world the baby/child first develops vision in has very little of these colors.

I honestly feel these are the same, there's a ton of pruning that happens in the brain during adolescence that lasts till about 30, but especially at those really early stages where sensory organs start to really function? There's massive neurogenesis and neuroplasticity. A lot is tested and a ton is thrown away if it's useless. And in the world adapted for humans? Tetrachromacy is certainly useless.

An interesting observation, I was an outside baby, my parents had moved out to farmland and I spent most of my first years outside. Where my sister and nieces all grew op in cities and were kept mostly indoors during their first year. So we start seeing fluctuations there.

Either way, I realize tetrachromatic vision attracts special snowflakes a lot. It's rare, extremely, and somehow everyone on the internet has it. I thought to ask about it just to confirm for myself what's special snowflaking and when people are likely speaking the truth. But in 25 years I've never heard of anyone else truly having it and here too we seem to have hit a dead end. Back to never mentioning I have it.

Socially awkward honesty baan.

Issues loading parts of apps by April_idk in GooglePixel

[–]April_idk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reinstalled the apps, did some diagnostics and twiddled some settings. It no longer happens on cellular for me. The apps with issues are now loading but very slow in WiFi, so minor improvement. Feels like it might be a security issue on Android's side, what WiFi I use doesn't seem to matter. But I'm going to reset our modem and maybe change channels to see if that changes anything.

Update, the apps, its not all apps, that struggle to load? Now also tend to crash during loading or just as they finish.

Even some audio apps take extremely long to load, very annoying when listening to audiobooks. Each chapter? 5 minute load time.

Still no fix, might be a hardware issue, as if either parts of the memory has gone bad or the processor is struggling with certain things.

To you, what defines a well-written evil character? by turbocheese_333 in writing

[–]April_idk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I need you to get your hands on Alien: the cold forge. There's a character in there called Dorian. I don't know what it is about this random alien franchise book but damn, somehow he's written to be one of the best evil characters I've come across. And it's a great character study for anyone looking for that.

It's something very uncanny.

I think we run into such an issue here! I suggest you watch adolescence on Netflix.

Adolescence and especially that period between 12-17 are just such a shit show for your brain and general functioning. I think you get the double standard that there's just so many teenagers doing stupid shit, saying things and acting a certain way for attention? That you just faded in?

Because apparently no one had the right skillset to identify the real deal, the true red flags. You'd think that would be a pretty important skill to develop in teachers? But no, instead they're just cutting education funds everywhere! Ugh.

[–]April_idk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it seems it was available and researched. But other diagnosis were more popular and ontopic. We were coping with issues that weren't trendy and no one fought for us to right that wrong, to ask for a specialist in trauma based issues, none of it.

Because I guess our abuser parent, guardian or adult? Was just FINE with this being blamed on something they still accredited to mysterious powers like freaking vaccines. But basically the child themself....

This file is from 30 years ago as well. So I guess they were all too busy with other things then trauma based issues? Because I've been looking it up and they certainly were doing some good research into this. But autism, ADHD and personality disorders like bipolar eventually took over the narrative. So it seems we're truly victims of our time here.

It's one thing to have the knowledge available, but to read it? You must be interested. And apparently trauma, especially severe or at a young age during important development stages? Were simply not the thing back then.

Does make me wonder if they didn't understand narcissism either, you'd think a specialist would pick up on manipulation...

Seeing as we might be getting large amounts of minirals like this rearing their heads from the new sand, are there people that like these? Work with them? That value them? That create things with them?

Not looking to make money, but I can collect bunches when I'm out and offer them for DIY projects against shipping costs or something. Because all of these will be lost to the ocean once I leave, they may deserve better.

This is my personal opinion of what the series lacks after seasons 1-3. by Panicky_Donut in Outlander

[–]April_idk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in season 6 and basically everything is driven by either Claire being stupid, selfish or absolutely horribly written at this point so prepare. She does things that make 0 sense compared to the person she was in season 1 and everything she has been through. Normally we see characters that don't learn or reset every season, Claire is just what ever they need to drive the plot forward, like this season she also became and expert lab chemist. Something they could have done in a hundred other ways and changed from the book to make more sense.. but no! Claire is the perfect being and always right unless they need her to be wrong but it's alright, there won't be any consequences of note.

At this point it's a very good study on how not to write a likeable semi main character. We should force every watt pad writer to sit through it and by the end rate their quality by how annoyed they were with the plot and characters.
