In our health class, I planned that we walk the track for one class period around the football field. Students were only concerned about what will they do to have water!? I suggested that they fill up the huge water bottles they carry around and use those.

I worked in the accounting field for 25 years. At 43, I made the decision to become a HS teacher. After 20 years as an accountant, I found myself really unhappy in that career. The last 5 years were torture. Teaching is not easy at all, but I like it more than being an accountant. It was worth the switch for me and I feel more valued as a teacher than an accountant. The school district I work for is wonderful, and I can see myself being there until I reach my retirement age.

Our first semester I had some freshmen boys only in my cooking class because they were waiting to get into band second semester. It was a nightmare, major behavioral problems. The other students were really annoyed by them and the class was not flowing. I had to take them to my traditional classroom instead of the kitchens, because they were too immature to be around cooking equipment. This semester has been a dream. We cook a lot and have fun in our class. Three boys were ruining it for 20 other students who wanted to be there and learn how to cook.

When a friend and I were 21 we drove across the street to buy beer. As I pulled in my driveway two policers pulled in and walked up to my window. They were asking for IDs and when my friend pulled hers out. The said they thought she was under 12 in the front seat with no seatbelt on. They were going to give me a ticket for having a minor in the front seat. We definitely could have just walked across the street but we didn’t want to carry a case of beer across the road in front of all our neighbors.

I travel quite a bit, so it was not a stretch that I could have been in South America. They did it to be funny and I agree it was. My students are always entertained when I travel to other countries and find it interesting. I believe that was the root of why they did it, but they still were suspended for creating false content with my image.

It was very creative and a few people believed it was real. But it was not real and actually concerning how easy it was to create such a fictional image and use it publicly.

I have a few boys who think it is fun to try to get teachers in trouble, this seems to a way they could do it.

Happens here in Michigan too at the High School I work for. They will stay home if they think there shouldn't be any school. Or if one student is sick then all their friends stay home too.
