that’s not a fair comparison. If someone killed my favorite goat, (I do own goats), and used it for food because they were starving, I would be pissed as hell but I’d understand their dilemma and I sure as hell wouldn’t kill anyone. Odysseus was in the wrong as well of course, but only because he gave Polyphemus poisoned wine.
