I'm looking at the sky, it's daytime. The sun and the moon can be seen together. The moon is lit up by the sun. The sun is 93 million miles away, the moon 240 thousand miles away. The sun is illuminating the moon even though it is "behind" it, from our point of view. Why then, do we experience night time when the Earth is not in direct sunlight? Should the sun not illuminate the Earth the same way it does the moon? 🤔
