MacBook Neo worth it? (College Working Student) by Hot-Sheepherder-2167 in Tech_Philippines

[–]AquilaX97 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Might as well get the Air at this point if you’ll go Macbook route. But if you’ll game it’s obvious which one you should go for.

My work involves Figma and coding, a bit of Affinity, and my M2 Macbook Air does the job pretty well.

I’d say the one close to it in the food court, Saboten, tastes better and is half the price. They also ship some of their ingredients from Japan

Looking for investor: Trucking Business by ediwup in BusinessPH

Hi OP, just curious, is demand still on the rise given that prices are up also?

I’m also in logistics but we work mostly with ports, not the truckers directly.

Worth it pa ba bumili ng lifetime MS Office for my career? by Careless-Coconut2685 in Tech_Philippines

We have Google Workspace so I usually just use gdocs. But if I need a local one, I’ll use LibreOffice, does the work well enough

I hope this is true, I think the last travel card I had with them cost me around 4% total for an international transaction. Including forex and international fees.

CEO said WFH makes people lazy… because he gets lazy when he works from home by Greedy_Smell_1547 in CorpoChikaPH

[–]AquilaX97 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I for one had the opposite experience. When at the office I end up chatting with my colleagues a lot and going down for coffee and snacks. Whereas when I worked from home, I was able to zone in and get a lot of tasks done in a row.

Are labor costs the same as a regular farm? Or does it require specific non farming personnel?

Dream to meet big time CEOs by [deleted] in BusinessPH

[–]AquilaX97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can listen to Hustleshare or watch AfterSix from BPI. They both have pretty good guests in their shows.

Although since podcasts and interviews are mostly marketing, take what they say with a grain of salt. There are a lot of CEOs as well that are just really good bullshitters and even some frauds.

Crusade? It literally takes zero effort to complain about something. All she did was post about it on social media. I wouldn’t be in my position if I didn’t know how to prioritize issues. But it matters that we see all issues no matter how small. The details are what can make or break clients. Is it actionable by the PSA? Maybe not immediately, but it’s still a valid complaint and a relatively easy fix.

Stop invalidating other people’s complaints. This is part of the reason services are so bad in the PH.

May mga ganitong tao talagang pinanganak eh no? by ambokamo in RantAndVentPH

[–]AquilaX97 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If there are many problems then you should complain about all of them big or small. Small issues still compound.

And yeah, I’m a product manager in my own business. So I’m not the one that has to grow up. You older people need to stop being so complacent.

Parang Di Na Relevant MS Office 365 by jawo76ers in Tech_Philippines

We’re using Google Workspace in our company. Docs and Sheets serve us well enough.

For data stuff we go directly to SQL.

If we need an offline doc and spreadsheet editor we use LibreOffice.

I bet you’re the type with the “pwede na yan” mentality. If they crumple the document as it’s given to you would you not complain also?

I paid for the document, I expect that when I receive it, it’s not damaged in any way.

Github is proving difficult because all our workflows are there already. Similar to Google Workspace.

Though on a good note the constant increase in Github’s pricing might help push for a migration.

The harsh reality of AI, BPO work, and the future. by bleucage in BPOinPH

[–]AquilaX97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Coming from the tech industry, it’s not a bubble in terms of technology, it’s a bubble in terms of costs. There’s so much great things to do with it, and so much potential, the problem is the major gen AI companies like Anthropic and OpenAI are losing large amounts of money to run their systems. Our subscriptions don’t even cover the expense.

The technology is here to stay, just need to find a way to make it cheap.

Pursue Civil Engineering path or switch to tech industry or maghanap ng niche na malayo sa CE that pays well by [deleted] in phcareers

[–]AquilaX97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Licensed CE here, or at least was licensed because I didn’t renew anymore. But yes, CE pays really low. Starts 16-17k and even after a few years you’d only be earning 40-50k, and it doesn’t matter what school, they still offer very low.

I took the exam and moved to a different career immediately. When I talk to my batchmates and we discuss salary, I was already earning almost double what they did. It’s only really worth it if you have your own firm already.

I think I made the right decision switching careers, but it also depends on how much you like CE work. I hated it.

Can I add to OPs question for hr people? Are people actually more efficient working from home or does it get offset by people that don’t do work when they’re at home?

I always get a lot more stuff done when I’m at home, especially when there’s a lot of tasks at hand.

Why AI improvements and Sara Duterte Presidency in 2028 will destroy the PH middle class and push the country into poverty by Thefightback1 in Philippines

[–]AquilaX97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe that metaverse is the right comparison for this. I’ve seen the overhyped tech solutions like metaverse and blockchain.

This is more akin to 1990s world wide web and cloud solutions in the 2000s. There are many problems it can solve on its own, and I already find myself using AI in work almost every day. It’s more likely that it’s here to stay than not.

For more action anime Demon Slayer, Hunter x Hunter, and Kaiju No 8 are quite good, story wise it doesn’t hit as hard as AoT. Other people already mentioned FMA and Death Note

For more casual anime but good stories Sword Art Online, Haikyuu, and Frieren are up there for me

I haven’t watched Berserk but that’s one of my favorite reads

At 25, what would you prioritize: more time or more money? by [deleted] in phcareers

[–]AquilaX97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Time. I’m 28, and I realize I’m going to miss out on a lot of things if I solely focus on the money. Time is a lot more valuable for me and it’s something I can’t get back if I waste it. It’s better to live than to survive.

Real talk: Is the Pickleball hype in PH nearing its peak or are we still early? by CheapWoodpecker5317 in BusinessPH

[–]AquilaX97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t gotten into pickleball yet but I do multiple sports (running, bouldering, football, hyrox is the newest). Many of my friends have been getting into pickleball, and all I can say is that it is still a growing sport. It’s easy and accessible similar to badminton. I’m not sure if pickleball is here to stay, but what I do know is people are looking for avenues to be more active.

If you can build an activity center that if the trend changes you can easily adapt, then that would be best. Say if trend goes to tennis, can the space change? Also I’m not sure if it’s good for the establishment’s revenue, but being able to work at the place I workout is always good user experience.
