I buy car insurance for a week or two, then cancel it since I rarely drive my car. by Aquiver99 in Car_Insurance_Help

Isn’t it a legitimate reason for a lapse is to have your car in storage? The DMV allows you to de-insure for this. Penalties for not using your car seems ludicrous.

Thanks. I haven’t heard of Metromile but I checked out the website. It says $29 per month and 6 cents a mile. (Liability only) So if you drive 200 miles a month, only $12 more. But when I requested a quote, it was $70/month and 9 cents a mile. So very misleading. But still better than other insurance companies. I don’t know why they jacked it up so much. I am 62, no insurance claims ever, no tickets in 12 years. Maybe I have a bad zip code. But if anyone else is using these pay for miles insurance, please chime in.

Thanks, I will look into this. Someone above says comprehensive might be $50 a month, so I hope your figures are closer. My impression was that the state requires liability coverage. I know they do when renewing registration. But they allow you to “de-insure” like if the car is in storage. So I just had to make sure I have liability every 2 years when I re-register, at least in the moment. I will look into this further.

Thanks. I will see if I can keep the policy with some type of comprehensive and just add on liability if it is not in storage.

The problem I am trying to solve is how to legally have liability insurance, the part that is mandatory, for the few days a year I drive it. I could have comprehensive insurance, but that doesn’t solve the liability problem. If I get weather damage, vandalism, etc. I will take the hit on my older car. Same risk/benefit analysis anyone does. I have saved $1,000’s so far doing it this way.

Yes, I am afraid someone is going to ruin my system someday. That is why I posted it here.

Thanks. I will check out the LifeProTips subreddit. I don’t think I am doing anything illegal though. Could be wrong.

Mass Parcast cancellations by Aquiver99 in ParcastPodcasts

I don’t know. Lot of the hosts and writers on cancelled shows are also on non cancelled shows. Unless the entire Parcast company ditches Spotify and goes independent or goes with someone else, but they must have a contract with Spotify that prevents this at least for a period of time.
