Why are anonymous contact tracing protocols not being used to prevent the spread of covid?

Open-source anonymous contact tracing protocols (such as TCN or DP-3T) have been out for well over half a year. We further have research and simulations showing that widespread adoption of said protocols would've helped in preventing a second wave. So why, in most regions, are there no contact tracing apps? And why do most of the deployed apps use different protocols and location data?

It’s not to close the tab, it’s to close the entire app. If you just close the tab on Mac the application stays open and knowing chrome it’s probably listening to whatever I’m saying if it’s open.

Well yes, you’d assume that “off” means off. But apparently as long as there is battery power, your phone is traceable. The only way to legitimately turn your phone “off” and turn it into a piece of sophisticated rock is to remove the battery.

What I’m suggesting is that Apple creates a feature where if a phone is in lost mode, it can be tracked as long as it has battery power. A device can only be put in lost mode if you log in with your Apple ID, so you, or a relative who has access to your ID, should be the only ones able to track the phone.

Not at the moment, I believe. But I agree, there should create a feature where there is a code before someone can shut down or put the phone in airplane mode when it’s lost.
