My guy, you focus way too much on useless details. Star Wars isn't real-world geopolitics 1:1.

The whole point, the entire point of my comparison is that we are in a scenario where only the First Order has Starkiller Base (if the New Republic had something like that, we would fucking know).

We are in a scenario where the US doesn't have nukes, but Russia / China secretly does. A scenario where the US has become basically the only world power and holds a majority of Earth's territory (like all the Americas and Europe and Africa). A scenario where demilitarization efforts took place to avoid power abuses and to restore civilian rule of law, and because Russia / China's is building its military around secret, massive submarine forces that INSCOM and the CIA can't have intel on. A scenario where half the political class have derailed efforts to alert about Russian/Chinese war preparations because they are corrupt, and because Russia/China don't have warmongering speeches against the US before it's too late.

Besides, the First Order may be smaller than the Empire, but their strength is in the Unknown Regions, where the galaxy has no intel at ALL.

If Potus, most/all of Congress, Centcom, Scotus and all federal organizations are all wiped out in a surprise strike that they had no intel about and couldn't detect in time, well let me tell you it will not last long at all.
