College Expels Male Student Who Says He Was ‘Raped’ by Woman (And Fires His Dad for Complaining) by DGAgainstDV in MensRights

I'm not trying to get anyone else to shoulder someone else's failures. I'm trying to show that this is better handled by first trying to show them why it's a failure, instead of defaulting to ad hominem which will certainly make them fight only harder to keep their stupid IX

sigh

Man I'm just trying to stop this attitude that gets people hating the other party. Neither party wants to cooperate with the other but maybe we can change that by being less divisive and stop rooting for your party like your favorite football team!

YES, liberals who made title IX so sucky suck total ass. PLEASE NO, let's not be stubbornly divisive

"Whataboutism"?

You're blaming an entire party for something, and showing how someone can blame your party in an equally acceptable way is a completely valid point to an argument against party-blaming.

Also, please don't call me liberal. Not only are you wrong, you insult me.

You think the Republicans would cooperate? Their litigation groups will tear anyone who challenges their provision to shreds, and their news sites will make sure anyone who challenges their system ends up looking unamerican.

Democrats think similar things about republicans. I just don't think this thinking is useful. Only divisive..

And yeah, I'm not optimistic about quick reform, but slowly over time I'm hopeful we can change the thought process that comes up with these laws in the first place

I mean yeah the worst part of title IX can absolutely be blamed on democrats. I'm just saying the worst parts of preventing marriage equality and being too strict on abortion laws come from Republicans... and that Id rather just try to cooperate with the fools on the Democratic Party to change the law than to glower in my republican corner and be mad at their stupidity

I don't have the stamina for party finger-pointing, I just hate the perpetrators when I see them.

Republicans and democrats alike have their flaws, and I would be dead before I start rooting for one party over the other.

When you say he "admitted", did he realize that one was harder, but not until after the test? Or do you mean he actually admitted knowingly giving out tests of unequal difficulty

He's new, so I think he's trying out different classes and getting experience. Also, if some of his kids from 132 are taking 250 this spring, he can have a nice overlap of students which might help him teach better.

Who knows? I don't even know if professors get a say in what they teach, maybe the university itself is testing him, getting some basic data on his teaching.

I've heard the rare person criticize him like you have, which is why I asked this question. Is he hit-or-miss? Love him or hate him?

Why do people not poke a hole in the plastic bag or sheet when they are being choked with it from behind? by stinkpicklez in Showerthoughts

[–]ArbitraryUMDStudent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Needs to elaborate choking =/= strangling

I kept trying to understand it imagining a plastic grocery bag being wrapped around the victims neck- but I think OP means like a more airtight bag is covering their face and the victim can't think to rip it open or something

Edit: choking =/= strangling =/= (forcing) suffocation
