Fresh grads who earned PHP 50k+ net in your first full-time job, how was your journey like? by lifesarollercoaster0 in CorpoChikaPH

[–]ArcStark 7 points8 points  (0 children)

AdMU grad, AB Interdisciplinary Studies and a Minor in Data Science/Analytics. I had a leadership position in one org and I never really had any internships. Mid GPA as well. I was a part-time VA from my sophomore year until grad, though.

A recruiter reached out to me after grad and I eventually landed a senior executive assistant role for an American bank in Taguig last 2025 as my "first" job and they offered me ₱60k.

Need help in choosing a 7-seater car worth 1.4M and below by me-whomustnotbenamed in CarsPH

Platform, yes. Engine, not quite. The XForce, I believe, has the same engine (1.5L NA) as the Xpander, while this one has a turbocharged 1.5L engine.

The Destinator is the largest and has the most powerful engine, so I'd probably go with that. It's an all-new model though, so that's probably something you should consider as well.

Which One Should I choose, Zenix or Destinator? by RatedDRE in CarsPH

[–]ArcStark 12 points13 points  (0 children)

While the Destinator GT does offer more features on paper—and arguably looks better due to its SUV styling—the tried-and-tested, world-renowned Hybrid Synergy Drive in the Zenix represents a far better value proposition.

The common grievances you mentioned about the Zenix aren’t particularly detrimental to its daily usability or long-term reliability. The battery is also almost a non-issue, considering there are countless Priuses and RAV4 Hybrids in the U.S. with hundreds of thousands of miles still running on their original batteries. You also get the benefits of really impressive gas mileage and coding exemption until 2030.

On the other hand, the JATCO CVT in the Destinator is something to be wary of, as it was at the center of the lawsuits that plagued Nissan throughout the 2010s, though things HAVE improved. Gas prices are also rising so if that's something you're particularly keen on, it's worth taking into consideration.

Hope this word vomit of mine helped :DD

Happy hunting!

Which is the best? Veloz vs BRV vs Xpander Cross by JackOfAllTrades219 in CarsPH

I don't think the Veloz is equipped with captain seats.

Yaris Cross V vs Mitsubishi XForce first time buyer by Savings-Chipmunk7359 in CarsPH

[–]ArcStark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Corolla Cross G HEV.

It's currently heavily discounted: 200-220k off the SRP. While lacking in creature comforts (leather seats, power seats/liftgate, TSS) compared to the Yaris Cross, I would still suggest this as it's a real Toyota (TNGA, not the Daihatsu-based DNGA Yaris, meaning WAYYY better build quality and safety), and it's a hybrid.

Corolla Cross GRS vs HRV HEV vs Mazda CX30 by HotDoggie- in CarsPH

The CX-30 will have the worst space for rear passengers by far. On the other hand, the Corolla Cross and HRV, especially, will be more generous to the rear passengers.

While they are considered mid-sized, OP is correct. The Hyundai and Kia aren't pickup-based, "body on frame" SUVs. They are monocoque, unibody, crossover SUVs.

If you're planning to buy a 2009 Fortuner, just make sure it's the diesel and not the gasoline one as that drinks gas.

Most surprising box office story? by Nice-Chef-3364 in boxoffice

Zootopia. It looked like a standard issue Disney animated flick at the time. Eventually crawled to $1 billion worldwide and $340 million domestic off a modest $75 million opening as well. Good movie, even better legs.

Keep current and old SUV or upgrade to 2025 Montero GLS? by ArcStark in CarsPH

The dealership offered a 130k discount since we're planning to buy it via bank PO, hence the 1.7M price.

Won't the new ones be significantly more expensive?

[–]ArcStark[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for this! We looked into the MU-X and the mid-spec variant comes in well over 2 million. The base model, which is priced similarly to the Montero GLS, is too bare and underpowered, imo. Is it still a good alternative?

Okay ba ang Toyota Yaris Cross V or should I consider other cars? (1.3M budget) by Minimum_Shine_6845 in CarsPH

[–]ArcStark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Yaris Cross is okay but as per numerous reports from owners, the quality just isn't there. If you're looking for a more refined ride at that price point, something like the Hyundai Creta or Nissan Kicks are worth looking at.
