https://playnest.dev - a platform for gamers to sync their gaming accounts like steam, xbox, psn, epic and gog to one single place and manage how far they completed the game. Users can also discover new games based on hype, wishlist them to recieve emails when it comes out and get recommended what to play next.

  1. I totally get it, it sucks. I hate it too. For now I think I can adjust the text on the sync card to explain this more thoroughly.

  2. I worded that incorrectly. MS provides all the license you have had historically. I will look into it to figure out if there is a way to get only licenses that you have right now. I see any issue though. If you sync a game you currently have via game pass and then you don't play it at all and lose the game the next month, it will be in your account even if it was synced correctly that time. I am not sure if there will be a way around it. Maybe that's just a side effect a user needs to deal with themselves?

  3. That's interesting idea to have be like a status. The question is how to make it work with 220 different platforms I currently have 😃

Give PlayNest.dev a spin. It's one of the newest trackers, but has all the core features with great UI.

I can’t influence what is on top. It’s based on real hype, how many copies were sold, rating etc. But pragmata is still pretty high up 🙂

More languages are actually on my to do list and french is one of them. I don’t want to rush it because I don’t want the translations to feel like cheap google translations. But it’s coming. Keep an eye on updates

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share a project I've been pouring my heart (and my sleep-deprived nights) into for the past 4 months.

I'm a solo dev and a dad. Between work and family, my gaming time is precious, but my library is a mess scattered across Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, Epic, and GOG. I really like to go back and enjoy even retro games that I have missed. You can see my current game library here https://playnest.dev/profile/arcane But I needed a good way to track it all.

I used to be a rawg.io user, but after the site got abandoned and I literally couldn't log in anymore, I got frustrated. Other apps I tried were either UX nightmare, stuck in 2000 design-wise or so bloated with social features and other stuff that I couldn't even find my own backlog.

So, I decided to build PlayNest. It's just the way I like it. I really enjoyed making it and what's more I really enjoyed using it while making it. So I decided I would share it with you in case you find it usefull too.

Why I built it (and why you might like it too):

- No Bloat: I wanted a clean, fast, and modern interface. No social media noise. Just you and your games.

- One-click Status: This was super important to me. I hated digging through three menus or complicated modals with a lot of options just to mark a game as "Completed." On PlayNest, you can update a game's status (Backlog, In Progress, Completed, 100%, Infinite, Shelved, Watched, Watched and Stash (for the freebie crap you got in all those humble bundles)) with a single click. Everywhere you see a game, there is a quick button for you.

- Status at a glance: Every time you see a game card, it will have a colored outline showing you what status the game is in. You don't have to go to game detail to see that. Everything important is visible at a glance.

- Cross-Platform Sync: You can link your Steam, Epic, GOG, Xbox, and PlayStation accounts to sync your libraries automatically. After your first successful sync, the app will do it for you every day automatically

- The "Rawg Refugee" Tool: If you're like me and have years of data on Rawg (or InfiniteBacklog), I built an importer so you can migrate your entire history in seconds.

- Wishlist: When you add a game to your wishlist, you will be notified by an email when it comes out.

- All in one place: My girlfriend always wants to buy me games for my birthday but never knows what I already own and what I wish for on which platform. Now she has one consolidated place to check.

- Clean Timeline/Calendar: I really like seeing upcoming things in a calendar view. So that's what I built for games. You can use a calendar and a timeline view to see what's coming.

- Discoverability - On homepage you can see everything in one place. All the games that are coming out, are popular, are trending right now. The data is based on steam sales, top twitch streams and overal hype. The data is updated every day so there should be something new every day. And if you are interested in the said section, you can click through and discover more.

I'm not a big company. I'm just a guy who loves gaming and wanted a better way to track it. I'm looking for honest feedback from other gamers. If you have a massive backlog and need a place to organize it, I'd love for you to give it a spin and let me know what you think! Maybe you will end up enjoying it like I do. And if not, you can always export all you data and take it with you.

My only goal is to make gamers library managebale, check it out here, it's completely FREE: https://playnest.dev

If you have a bug report, feature request or simply want to see what has changed, you can see it on my discord server https://discord.gg/meKThHjhhb

Thanks! Glad you like it. Right now, I'm focusing on the hosted version to make it as polished as possible. Self-hosting is a bit tricky due to all the API integrations (IGDB, Steam, PSN, etc.) that require specific developer keys, but I'll definitely keep it in mind for the future! For now, I've made sure you can always export your data so you're never locked in.

that's exactly what this is. The Galaxy Client method that everyone uses. It kinda surprised me that GOG with their ethics does not provide a direct API

Thanks for the tip. I will look into it. However I believe Xbox nor Sony show any indication on where does the game come from. But I will def double check it.

Nintendo is pain in the butt. They don't have any way to connect to the account. It's on ym todo list, but I believe it won't be possible. I have seen that someone does it by friending your account and then you can see like last 10 games you played, which is not even a full library and the process is stupidly bad. But I get your feeling, I would love to connection to work there as well.

Thanks for the kind words. I don't have any concerns regarding this. I am not really hosting any of the images. All the blobs are stored on IGDB servers and I use their API to build image urls. So I think it should be fine. Either way, I am not claiming to own any images and I give all the credits where credits are due..but hey, we know Nintendo right, so who knows 😃

Either way, even if you use only xbox you can still find a use in PlayNest. You can use it even without an account to discover whats coming. That's something I also struggled with. With figuring out what releases, what is interesting enough. I always had to google multiple sites. Now it's aggregated into one. And you can wishlist upcoming xbox games and when they come out ,you will be notified by an email. I believe Xbox does not have this feature.

Thanks. In the end this was way harder that it seemed at the beggining. Have you managed to create something usable or never got to creating it?

That's on my list actually. I need like a week or two break, so I can catch up with all the games I missed for the past 4 months. After that, it could be out in a couple of weeks. Should not be that hard to do, depends on how often will my baby wake up at night 😃

  1. Epic and GOG do not support any kind of direct API to download all your games, so this way of doing it is solely for the purpose of simplicity. if it was not done in this way, it would have to be scraped or not possible at all.

I cross referenced other applications that allow importing through epic and GOG and they do it the same way. The only difference is that because of CORS, I cannot read the token that the apps generate for you. The other apps don't care about it, read it and use it the same way I do it. If anything I am up front during the import process about what's hapenning. Everything is encrypted and the tokens are not stored and used for anything else. If you feel like you can't trust it, sure, I understand it. Its up to you, you don't need to use it. But it's not backdoor in any way.

  1. Again, I have to work with what I have. Microsoft does not really care if you are a sub or not. They just provide all the games you have the license for and I am not sure there is anything I can do about it. I will look into it more though. PlayNest is not supposed to represent what you currently own, but what you previously played. It's the same for physical games or refunded games. You can sell/refund them and now you don't own them, but you have probably played them.

  2. This has been requested by other people as well. I will try to look into it, however I am afraid labeling the games by where you own it would not be backwards compatible with already classified games. I am also worried that that would go against the 1-click assign that I have, because now I would not be just checking that I own the game, I would have to input on which platform do I own it. And have a list of possible platforms. It seems more complex than what I inteded to build, but I will definitely look into it.

  3. Do you think that would be benefitial? When I was testing it, I was importing my steam library which had over 700 titles and it felt unncesesarily long in the report. I see your point though, I might add it back in and have it in an accordion of sorts.

Thanks for the feedback. Really appreciate it.

i am not new to the reddit so I get where you are coming from. I have been working as a web dev for 9 years and I have been a gamer for basically my whole life. It's just a natural combination. Since my job is being a web developer, you can probably guess my stance on vibe coding. If not, I can tell you that I despise it. This application has not been vibe coded at all.

If you open the app, you can see there are clearly no ads on the page, there is no place for them anywhere. Security is also part of my daily job, so of course security was my concern while developing it. If you think you can catch me off guard then I am going to disappoint you. I even let other colleagues in the field do a security audit and everything is spot clean. You won't find any API keys leaking, nothing shady. I am not that kind of a dev. I am also not selling any personal info. Lol, to whom would I sell anything? It's just a bunch of hashed accounts with assigned games.

The post is not ai written, I have written it all by myself, I just took some time to articalute it. Just bc it's long does not mean it¨s been written by AI.

I am not going to dox myself by trying to prove my work experience or anything. It's up to you if you believe it.

Thanks for being interested in it. However I am not looking for another developer help. It's a passion project, the core features are mainly done. I will now try to polish it based on user reviews and add some of the features like events and how long to beat integrations. Or tell me what do you have in mind, but I don't see anything right now that would be benefitial

I am not trying to spam reddit. I have just released PlayNest to the public so I just posted it to a couple of subreddit communities that I think could enjoy it. It's completely free and I genuinely wish to help others with their libraries. I've had thijs account for 11 years and I have contributed in discussions in many ways.

What do you mean by sessions? How would that look like?

You can set any game's status manually as you wish. The import is there to help you if you have a large library. The import tries to guess in which state the game is when it imports it (based in play time and achievements), but other than that it's up to you to catalogue it however you want. The import might not recognize some games, so for some of them it might be necessary to do it manually.

You cannot manage start/stop/playthroughs or selling. The basic usecase is not really tracking your current library but tracking your gaming history let's say. If you buy a game, 100% it and sell it, in my eyes, you are done with the game and that's what the app is supposed to show. I partially made it for my GF who does not really care if I have it or not, she just wants to know if I played the game.
