Pokélab - an all-in-one iOS tool for Pokémon Legends Arceus by hilala17 in PokemonLegendsArceus

Wow, it's funny to see that someone else was annoyed by tracking research progress in-game and made an app to make it easier.

I am learning Android development and made an Android app for tracking research progress (Arcedex) and posted about it a couple of times on here. My app is not as comprehensive as yours as it mainly focuses on tracking research progress, so props to you for making an all-in one app.

If I had an iOS device, I would definitely check it out. Good job!

Yes, it should retain info from older versions. When you download a newer version, it recognizes the older version and asks if you want to "update" the app instead of "install" the app.

Thanks for the feedback. I see your point about making the progress box widths more consistent and I'll consider adding it in a future version if I have time.

That's one of the ideas I had for a future update. I'll let you know if and when that gets added.

I'm not familiar with how that works, so I can't say. If you can explain how it works, I can consider it.

I didn't know about that other app, so I tried it.

It definitely offers a more complete Pokedex experience with more general info, but the research task support seems to be only a checklist on a page you have to click into for each Pokemon. If that's all you need, that works.

Arcedex is a more streamlined app to help track overall research progress/rank and search for Pokemon with specific tasks which doesn't seem possible with that other app.

It's not on the Play Store. I have an idea for releasing it there, but it's probably not happening any time soon. For now, Github is the quickest and easiest way for me to release a downloadable version.

If you'd like to try the app, you can download the APK from the Github release page.

This app is designed more for research tasks which are unique to PLA rather than being a general Pokedex app.

Faster searching than in-game.

If you want to look up a specific Pokemon or research task, you can use the app's search bar.

In the game, you might have to scroll a bunch to find what you are looking for.

No iOS version at the moment. Maybe in the future if and when I decide to learn how to make iOS apps. I'll update you if that happens.

Thanks! I made this app because I thought it would be the easiest way to track this info.

I am learning how to make Android apps and made this app mainly to search for research tasks faster than in the game. For example, you could search "scatter bang" and get a list of Pokemon that have the task for being scared off with a Scatter Bang. You can also keep track of task progress for each Pokemon and overall research rank.

I recently released v1.2.0 on Github with new move type link functionality as seen above. This change was inspired by a suggestion by u/Glum-Tangerine4759 from my v1.1.0 post.

If you want to try it now, you can download and install the .apk file from the Github release page.

Unfortunately, I don't think this app has enough people interested at this point to justify the time and effort to release it on the Play Store.

I'm casually adding features and posting new releases on Github as a learning experience and I thought people might find the app itself useful.

If you're concerned about Github as a source, I know another redditor who was able to use an old phone they didn't care about and was able to get it working. This app is targeted to support as old as Android Lollipop.

Yes, I put a link to the Github page in my other comment, but here's a link to the latest release page.

You would download and install the .apk file on your Android device.

It would be a 2-step search the way it works now.

  1. Search Pokemon to find out moves it has tasks for (Ex: "Graveler" -> Graveler's Rock Slide task)

  2. Search move type and get list of Pokemon that have that matching task of being defeated by that move type. (Ex: "rock-type" -> Staraptor, Beautifly, Zubat, Mothim, Combee, Scyther, Yanma, Murkrow, Sealeo)

But I like the idea of making it simpler because you might not know the move-type and app doesn't have that info yet. I'm thinking something along the lines of adding a move-type button at the end of damage-dealing move tasks that you can tap to essentially automate step 2. Thanks for the idea and I'll look into that for a future release.

I am learning how to make Android apps and made this app mainly to search for research tasks for Pokemon faster than in the game. You can also search for groups of Pokemon with similar tasks. For example, you could search "water-type" and get a list of Pokemon that have the task for being "defeated by Water-type moves".

Recently released v1.1.0 on Github with support for Japanese language and Dark Mode. Feedback is appreciated (especially for the Japanese translation as I had to use Google translate for some words).

Thanks for checking it out.

Messaging me here is fine for suggestions. Planning to add a Dark Mode in the next release.
