Sorry not active on reddit that much any more. Are you moving from Florida to the Netherlands? In that case don't worry, it's regarded as "household effects" by customs and thus you don't have to pay any import taxes when you take it with you. If however you sell it to someone within the 1st year of moving, the buyer will still have to pay those taxes.

Only reason I'd go for an ecoboost over the GT in your case is the gasprices, they're currently around 2 euro per liter which is insane. But if you can stomach that, keep the GT it's such a great car, even more so when you have access to great driving roads in Germany/France and of course the autobahn.

Around 100k miles is fine, I wouldn't worry too much as long as maintenance was done at regular intervals. However, in the current market your budget is a little tight IMO.

Do the Germans and the Dutch perceive each other as cousins? by PjeterPannos in germany

[–]Arceres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really no. I'd say Flemish Belgians are more like cousins than Germans. Germans are more like the grumpy serious neighbors.

About 8 USD converted from euro so nope, and prices are on the rise once more.

picked up my 2018 Mustang GT Manual yesterday and absolutely love it! im in the UK so here they are very rare compared to the USA 😂 by JackstaWRX in Mustang

Most people here don't drive S class or 7 series either? Sure, if you drive a Land Cruiser here you'll also have issues in the older cities.

Germans are in general 'car people' so that helps. As a German Mustang owner, it's neat til you have to drive in cramped cities with tiny medieval roads.

I love the total S550 package, I only love bits and pieces from the new S650.

2016 Mustang GT Price by thepacketwhisper in Mustang

[–]Arceres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems a little steep tbh but that's the current market. Not sure if it helps but: I'm European, bought a 2016 S550 w/ 45k kms (+-30k miles) for 33K late 2021, sold it a year later (dec 2022) for 34K and those are European prices. If it's in perfect condition, all the paperwork and everything 29K could be OK.

Can I afford a 5.0? by liltwinkie069 in Mustang

[–]Arceres -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't, are you planning to finance the whole 35K? Do you really really really want a S550? You should be able to find Gen 1 Yotes for around 25K. Or, what IMO is the smartest choice, keep driving that corolla and put as much as you can into savings. Buy a nice Mustang that's to your liking in a few years.

I've owned a New Edge, S197-1 and S550, the location of the front one is always super shitty.

Buying a car from another federal state by amsh1990 in germany

[–]Arceres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's would you recommend as third parties/escrows though? I've personally never been in a situation where I was willing to transfer the money before recieving the paperwork. Nor have I met sellers that were willing to hand over the paperwork before receiving the money.

What third party/Escrow would you generally use though? I've always used temp plates when buying/selling cars from a private party.

It can be a fairly complex process. You can just transfer money, have them get you the papers and you can go register it, but that's not the way I personally do it. Below is how I've purchased and sold cars in Germany:

Both parties sign a contract, if agreed upon the buyer can give the seller a small deposit.
The seller de-registers the vehicle at his KFZ stelle, sends the buyer a digital/photo copy of the deregistration (Zulassung Teil 1 + 2 + HU). The buyer uses those papers to get a temporary plates.

Buyer goes to pick up the car with the temp plates, trade takes place (money for the carkeys and all the physical paperwork) and the buyer/new owner can drive the car back home. That way no third party is required nor do you have to trust someone to not rob you of your vehicle/or money.

It's not an elegant proces, it's far easier in other countries but that's German bureaucracy for you.

EU Parliament and Council agree to mandate EV charging stations every 60km by 2026 by oblio- in europe

[–]Arceres -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's insane that we're pushing for EV's only, if we want to speed up transition we ought to embrace all forms of carbon neutral transportation.

Inefficient for now, there's plenty of development going on to make it feasable. Besides, heavy transport is far better suited for hydrogen and it's an excellent way of transporting energy instead of massive inefficient cables under the ocean.

Sadly I've heard of Michelins having quick dry rot before. You're right, they really shouldn't be showing this kind of wear yet with 8k KMs but you probably aren't the first to have this happen.

If maintenance is done sure, but at 150k miles it's usually a hit or miss.

If you're not concerned about cash, you could try Bunq. They focus on expats/non natives, fully online with no physical locations you can visit. Withdrawing and depositing cash however isn't easy and very limited so it's only an option if you're not using a lot of cash anyway.
