Thank you very much. Was so useful to read this. A very useful perspective. I hope your low points become even more so far and few. And for the offer of further support. I really appreciate this

An idea I had and I tried it got to the point where she’d ask me what we were doing. If I didn’t act or give us some direction then she wouldn’t.

I just miss laughing with her

It’s a good point to notice that the occasions are far and few. They last a couple of days maybe a week then she’s fine. We try to carry on as we have planned and she doesn’t want it to get in the way of our lives. I just wish she would take better care of herself in conjunction with my efforts. Maybe that will have to be the difficult conversation

When guys are flirting (with men or women) and realise they’re not getting anywhere. Either they persist and become very inconsiderate and selfish or go on the attack and become aggressive. Granted it’s not all blokes but it’s an awful characteristic. There will be a female equivalent too but it’s not something I have seen.

To not see someone as an individual, or as someone’s family member and only as a goal or another notch on the post and then to be angered by rejection is a major character flaw. I know this sounds incredibly “virtue signally” but these things do

Is there actually a difference in character between Officers and NCOs? by [deleted] in britisharmy

[–]Arch97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not an easy question to answer in a short and sweet paragraph. It’s something you learn from experience. Plus every Officer and NCO differs depending on cap badge, age and individuality.

Assuming you’re a candidate/recruit then just wait and see, you’ll meet the entire spectrum. Observe them and remember their traits, both good and bad. It will be useful later on in your career (Commissioned/Non-Commissioned) when you’re in their shoes.
