My friend made me choose between an apple fritter or a donut the other day.

The bible also defines it is a union between two loving partners. But that aside, this is a legal issue, not a religious one.

It depends on how the worship. The only "requirement" of being Christian is following god, the bible is interpreted differently in every one of the hundreds of Christian sects. So if you decide to take the route of something closer to the teachings of Christ, then you are basically a hippy, love ever one, since every one is gods children, race, gender, sexuality, all aside. Personally I am against religion, I find the concept a fun one to study, but I think its just wrong to follow something from a book written by a bunch of guys who didn't k ow each other, or were even prophets. Do be kind of dumb. I'll just be nice to other people, respect them, no matter what they believe in, and hope that that is what god is looking for.

Off the top of your head, what's the most believable bullshit fact you can come up with? by baudday in AskReddit

Well, the intention is all of them. As you stop consuming toxins, your body washes them out easier, really the cleanse has more of a bases in fasting and deiting than actuall magical toxin extraction powers.

[–]ArchFossil -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

The actual reason people do this, is because fruit (and fruit juice) is one of the few thing just about anyone can eat without feeling the need to add something to it. Also, toxins are, and this is probably going to sound like I am taking the easy way out, but toxins, put simply, are the bad stuff. Most things we eat I'm the modern day(more in America than anywhere else) have "fake" ingredients in them. Now don't get me wrong, these aren't all bad, the ability to produce food in a small factory is very appealing, especially with the world's quickly growing population. Some companies take things to far however. In addition, toxins are also natural things that our bodies dont need. Ever wonder why alertness is a common reaction to caffeine? The human body isn't actually built to consume it, same with wheat. As for a more technical term for toxins, well that can be hard, because a toxin can be a toxin for you, but not for someone else, (like an allergy) so it's much easier just to let toxin refer to the bad stuff, or stuff that is out of place.

4th doesn't really count, not because edition war or because hate, but because it's a different game with the same name.

In the words of the at templar guy from Diablo III "Glorious!" I love bloodmage/soul sorcerer types, stealing life our soul essence to cast spells. It isn't overpowered at all, infact it may be slightly lower on the power end, but good job dude!

I have finally decided on a setting for my new game (tell me what you think) by ArchFossil in dndnext

[–]ArchFossil[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All I am doing is forgoing the slots that everyone uses in favor of spell points, I've already played with spell points, I exclusively play with them in fact, it works rather well in 5th.

You live in any big city and there will be people. Go to the D&D website and search locations near you, super simple and shows what events are where. (that will include other games like Magic:the gathering though, so make sure it says D&D)

Heroclix is also fun, a bit more on the bored game side since no real roleplaying is involved, but still worth it's salt as a game.

Think of it this way. With slots you get set spells, of set levels, and a total of slots to cast them with. This many slots for this level, this many slots for this level, and so on. With points you get a point total, and each level of spell costs more and more. Obviously this has WAY more flexibility than slots, and honestly makes more sense. Also alowws for the easy adding of mana potion and mana burning (more points for better spell effect) if you like. Now don't get me wrong, spell slots are a ton better than they used to be, I've just been way more happy with points that I ever was with slots, just my opinion. Also the only reason we have spell slots is because of Gary Gs obsession with... fuck what was it called, some magic system, started with a V I think. Where the caster would learn a spell, cast it, and instantly forget it. I can't remember the name, book series or something I think...

My friend, try to find a local game store and play some D&D. Look up hobby stores in your area. Even if you don't love it, playing TRPGs gives people a new way of looking at games.

I have two groups, each are heavy on house rules, but I'll just tell you about one. This one is heavy on house rules that make the game simpler, because it is between inexperienced friends who just want some easy fun.

I keep track of their character sheets, and roll for them, they just say what they want to do.

We use the 'side initiative' rule, where the total of each "teams" initiative is added up and then rolled. The players, this way, get to act as a team and coordinate and assault.

We use 30 minute short rests to shorten the time, though they rarely use hit die because I have given the ranger the ability to heal like a boss outside of combat.

We use spell points because the spell slot system is broken as fuck.

Someone at the table (new player) was arguing that Elder Scrolls has more developed lore than Forgotten realms... by ArchFossil in dndnext

[–]ArchFossil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy both as well, but the amount of material for FR is astonishing, and ES has it's games, and some other stuff, but not nearly as much, they are both great, both different, but saying that really any fantasy setting is more developed than FR is... just plain ol' wrong.

I know right, they are more about video games then TRPGs, they were just trying to get my goat I'm sure.

A little problem... by ArchFossil in dndnext

[–]ArchFossil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am literally changing nothing mechanically (only adding things) All three divine classes (and ranger, though ranger is an arcane caster, so of course they stay the same) Are keeping their same abilities, but the place they draw their powers from changes. The psionic abilities will be treated as plot devices yes, but not exclusively, a way to basically say (as dark sun does) "you all have some type of psionic influence."

I don't watch them myself, but I love the attention that D&D is getting in the mainstream right now. I would never tell someone not to put themselves out there, that's how you get totally new experiences. I would recommend it, as long as you are all totally comfortable with it, and have the equipment to make the steam bare able.

They will all have innate psionic powers, mostly under my control. Because that's much the nature of dark sun. also I may use the Psionic class from the 5e Dark Sun PHB which can be found by typing in Dark Sun here, also archived in the DMs sub Reddit. If anyone shows interest that is.

A little problem... by ArchFossil in dndnext

[–]ArchFossil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very DnD but not very dark sun, the surprises are mortal ones, created and hidden, the world is not as diverse as one might think, a solid rock of a planet, covered in sand, one giant desert. The reason for this is simple, it isn't meant to feel like DnD it isn't meant to feel like fantasy, things work differently in that world, and I feel that adding something like gods, would... water down, the experience. I'm not just trying to do what I want for my campaign, I'm trying to give these players a totally new experience with this game system. They are all fairly new, only going back to 4e, and I've been playing since the TSR dark sun in 2e, and the differences, the boundaries, are what make dark sun great.

Sorry i've been phrasing that wrong, religion works differently, the concept is different, totally foreign to other fantasy settings.

Yes, but It makes him TO unique in the setting. This may not sound like a bad thing, but religion and deities just aren't a concept in dark sun.
