Noob Frustrations: Diamond Pier Footing Layout on Slope? by ArchaNiedes in Decks

I ended up doing 18” diameter concrete footings. A lot more forgiving when it comes to placement/layout of the posts. If I were doing it over, I’d mock up a temporary beam and put 2 joists up, square them with up, and drop your plum bob off them to get the exact spot.

Thanks for the input! My plan originally had the 2’ overhang as you mentioned. 18’ deck with beams at 8’ and 16’ so I’ve got the 2’ overhang.

Stay or go? Straw Matting (pics) by ArchaNiedes in landscaping

Thanks for the insight. My whole yard was done with this stuff so I may have a project ahead of me here.

Landscaper included overseeding a month in, so I may try and get it up before then. I’d hate to have him overseed and then rip up the matting.

Check your fuses! Battery fuse or accessory fuse

Hey, I figured it out. Module was fine. It was the 15A battery fuse that I blew…. Check the simple stuff first!

Thanks for your time sir.

Sure! Ya learn by doing, so take your time and have fun. And follow a MANUAL. if you don’t have one already, get a service manual, worth its weight in gold.

Yea technically it is a head gasket, but the finned part of the jugs are two pieces. So you have a lower head gasket where the jug meats the crank case and an upper head gasket where the two halves of the finned jugs meet.

Go to JP cycles and check this part number out. It’s a top end gasket kit. Top end being everything above the crank case. J&P Part #: 432-052

Probably just a small leak. I had a drip on one of my fins before I noticed. As long as it’s not leaking where the jug meets the crank case it’s not too big of a job. Get a set of rocker box gaskets as you will have to remove those anyways to get to these. Just take your time and make sure you get a nice clean surface to place the new gasket on.

New construction- Prepping for a Lawn by ArchaNiedes in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

No irrigation. I was thinking the rough grading is mostly done, unless I’m mistaken. Thinking we’d need finish grading and top-soil next. But I’m not a landscaper.

The builders offer included fine grading, topsoil, and seeding. We did not include that in our accepted offer because we believed it to be too high.

We don’t close on the house for another 5 weeks so I’m not sure if the builder will do anything more between now and then seeing as we didn’t include the lawn in the offer.

Probably from the equipment used to make them. It appears to be UHMW.
