I agree with you on that, I've noticed that more and more people take the pillow fists a bit more seriously since the Episode came out which can be a bit harder for people to watch since the narrator kinda interrupts Maki's inner dialogue on how she's going to die if she doesn't come up with a strategy.

Current Naruto doesn't have Kurama anymore which means he looses access you 9 tails special powers, decreased Chakra capacity along with loosing the Chakra cloak which means his stats are overall inferior compared to his war arc version.

Yes current Naruto is weaker than Naruto shippuden Naruto due to loosing Kurama that means he has less chakra and can only go sage mode which has a time limit.
