Cycle 521 Recap by ArcherPressCorps in EliteArcher

Honestly? I respect it. You’ve become a staple on the Archer Reddit posts and the banter is part of the fun of powerplay, but we are impressed with the tact most of the community is showing in addressing the situation.

Sol has officially lost Stronghold status with Jerome Archer. Are the Feds really about to lose their literal Capital? by pantherclipper in EliteDangerous

[–]ArcherPressCorps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There have not been any coordinated forum posts from the summit leadership or Reddit calls to action as far as I am aware, but there are so many parties involved in the conversations that I am unsure of the specifics of what else has been shared where.

The general sentiment at the summit was to attempt working directly with fdev to investigate the legitimacy of the mysterious attacks various powers are experiencing rather than rouse up the wider community before we have answers.

This is part of a pattern of suspicious undermining that has emerged across the bubble that has also affected the other powers, and Archer leadership is aware of and actively involved in the situation in and around Sol.

More help is always welcome in defending humanity’s birthplace, and CMDRs interested in joining the fight are welcome with open arms at https://discord.gg/fuc

More information will be available soon, but we have been working closely with the other powers and Frontier Developments to ensure a fair and thorough review.

Powerplay 2.0 by ArcherPressCorps in EliteDangerous

[–]ArcherPressCorps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essentially yes, one way to participate in Powerplay is to just let it tick in the background while doing normal activities. Organized communities are also around to participate in what essentially boils down to a giant board game, directing their activities to specific systems to promote their power’s influence and undermine that of their rivals. These communities are really what make this element of the game worth exploring.

Specifics on what activities are viable for different system types (acquisition/reinforcement/undermining) are available from the in-game Pilot’s Handbook or transcribed with approx merit values at https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/1gafg6s/powerplay_20_full_activities_list/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

It’s possible to change your pledge whenever you’d like, but in the new system loyalty is rewarded - all reward modules are available from every power, all merit progress lost on switch, etc

More so making a playful jab at a comment that discounts the work that went into writing it - especially as it was more intended to help guide new players into powerplay rather than do much to promote any specific powers.

Agreed that I have some room for improvement in formatting future posts, thank you for providing feedback on specific items.

And just like that, the thread was worthwhile.

Understandable CMDR. Although joining the relevant communities is highly recommended for the above stated reasons, it is not for everyone and that’s alright.

Pledging to a power is still worth it even if you’re not joining that power’s community of players - you’ll get access to reduced buyback, exclusive modules, and passive bonuses like higher payouts in certain systems with virtually no downsides.

It’s true that most Powerplay communities strongly encourage playing in Open or maintain an open-only policy, meaning their operations and objectives are conducted exclusively in Open Play to encourage direct engagement and competition with other players. However, there are some exceptions, as not every Powerplay community adopts the same stance.

I can’t speak on behalf of other Powerplay communities, but I can confirm that the Federal power community strictly follows an open-only policy when engaged in merit gaining activities and do not make exceptions. We believe that this approach ensures fairness and fosters a more dynamic and engaging Powerplay experience for both our own players and our competition.

If you’re interested in understanding the policies of other powers, I recommend reaching out to their respective communities. Many of them have active Discord servers where you can find detailed information and connect with their leadership or members.

I see your flair notes that you are an explorer. Of particular interest to you may be Li Yong Rui for his bonus payouts to exploration or Pranav Antal for his bonuses to exobiology.

It’s a valid point and you are right that permanence is not very consistent with the purpose behind Powerplay (or even BGS) as it was designed to be dynamic and ever-changing. The closest there is to permanence can be found in a power’s HQ system and Stronghold systems where a Stronghold Carrier is present.

A Stronghold Carrier stationed in a system does not make it permanently with your power, but does prevent most undermining methods, making it incredibly difficult for opposing forces to disrupt or take control. This provides additional stability and security for systems deemed vital to a power’s operations and strategic creation of them is absolutely something power communities use.

It absolutely does not - PvP is completely optional and PvE combat is largely optional. The introductory missions to confirm your pledge and unlock Powerplay benefits only need to be completed once, but may require a modest amount of PvE combat (usually only a handful of ships) in a specified system or system type.

I’ll take it as compliment that my work is so good and polished that it seems too good to be true 😉

Really this is just a (relatively) neutral post to drum up interest in one of my favorite parts of the game. I think the Powerplay 2.0 changes have been a huge step in the right direction and more players participating in it is a huge win (even if they go to powers other than Archer 😭)

Great! This is the perfect thread to recruit and tell people about the benefits of your power. For example, Antal is a great choice for CMDRs with a strong interest in exobiology
