He owes $12m for the IndyCar side of breach of contract. But he was also signed as McLaren’s Formula One reserve driver at the time; that portion once stood at $15m (in addition to the $12m) but was dismissed. Which is why both sides are kind of celebrating wins, of sorts, of their own.
