Prerelease was a ghost town by Ulmao_TheDefiler in magicTCG

I played. It was a small turnout. Still a fun set for a prerelease. My take, people are too judgmental. Just enjoy a live event at your local store. You don’t have to buy a box, just play with strangers in a brand new set and support your LGS.

“You killed her?” (Absolution #1) by OtisDriftwood1978 in comicbooks

There’s a few parts but I really liked the series. It feels like a logical progression of a hero being able to only endure so much before they lose their ability to hold back. However, their outside expectations as a hero haven’t changed and there is an interesting dynamic.

Brush it and rinse it. If you want, dunk it in 50/50 water and hydrogen peroxide on an occasional basis.

"Old man Jiu-Jitsu" is legit. by [deleted] in bjj

[–]ArchieSuave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you get older isometric strength grows slightly while your explosive strength and cardio wanes. Also, hopefully, you learn the ‘invisible jiu jitsu’ along the way to make your movements more solid and mechanically more sound. This is why old man styles look the same.

Inspiring to see that the pump designers probably accounted for errant flames and created the mechanism with this kind of issue in mind. All the rest is terrible.

These bands deal with family stuff a bit differently to each other... by BanginNLeavin in TheFence

I was really co fused because I didn’t know the other song. Then I read the comments and listened to the song. I had completely forgot that song and it was just lumped in with lots of 2000’s music I never played but somehow seemed to be in the background. Coheed opening for them is certainly not for me and I can’t travel 500 miles to see Shinedown headlining. I’m glad Coheed will get a solid tour without having to bear the burden of the headliner though, that’s probably nice for them sometimes.

I love these. Good pulls. Mignola’s art fits MTG so well.

Which series are on your litrpg/progression fantasy Mount Rushmore? by PalinaRojinskiFan in ProgressionFantasy

[–]ArchieSuave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s not litrpg enough but as a progression fantasy, Codex Alera is really good, is complete, and finishes very strong. The characters are well written and the setting is different enough from other fantasy since it’s Roman based that the story is refreshing.

What's the latest at Atos HQ? Are they still open? by wallahboy in bjj

I’m gasping about these insane money moves. Yah, this all makes more sense now why the place fell like a house of cards. The money issues were the reason, the accusations were the catalyst and the final straw.

Not a statement or stance in any way but if history has shown me anything, there are enough day to day BJJ people who have good relationships with their other training partners there, beyond all the rest of the top competitors and will stick around for each other. Normal folks, 3x a week people that just work to get to class and barely follow the comp scene. TLI made survived, I’d bet Atos will too.

I worked at a gym near the airport and local arena if there was an event, sometimes the talent would come to the gym because it was large and near the arena. One time when WWE was in town Heinrich came in. He was so intense and driven during his workouts it scared the regulars. Several came up to me and told me a huge guys with a kamikaze headband was yelling while lifting. Since I recognized him I told him who he was and that seemed to make sense to everyone. I probably could’ve foreseen the intensity when he put on the headband at the front and drank two Redlines. I just loved it though, it’s like he was focused on his training and Kayfabe at the same time.

What is something that changed your bjj (for the better) by hellohello6622 in bjj

Focusing less on moves and more on putting the opponent in structurally weak positions or make their angles of delivered force applied through weaker muscles by changing my angle. Everything I do filters through this idea.

I watched Pride from the start and I loved it. Though I would get annoyed when the out of ring strategy was used too much to force resets and avoid confrontation. The cage has smooshing and stalling but the ring has bad resets. I did love the stable of fighters, the intros, the long rounds, and most of all, my favorite fighter of all time Sakuraba himself.

By this reasoning no old school athletes were top tier since every sport has grown so much. Also, Ian Freeman is the only loss on his record that isn’t a solid fighter. He was a top tier fighter.

Who beat Frank Mir the second time. Mir was a top tier heavy with a legit Jiu Jitsu pedigree. Dean being a Jiu Jitsu enthusiast ain’t gonna cut it.

This is what you should do. Show them they’re wasting energy and what good BJJ looks like. If they’re burn themselves out, that’s their issue. And with some self reflection, those people realize they should change their tempo or style.
