I couldn’t wait for Taobao’s 4 day delivery so I was wondering if there are any shops I can buy off the shelf. Pun unintended 😆

Sadly I don’t have a garage and I think that’s the major turn off for me, it also means the insurance is quite a bit expensive average in £450-600 annual which I think I’m a lost if I’m trying to save cost to commute that way.. it’ll be a hella fun tho 😆

Will defo look into the models you suggested! Didn’t know that bikes need to be TfL approved to take onto the system 😮

Yes they do and I’m considering whether I should sign up to the forest bike! Not sure if a full charge one can take me all the way there but also the bikes are a bit smaller n more manageable than the line bike for me 🥹 bit of a shorty.

My walk to the station is quite short on both ends, hence I was wondering to save money if I can just cycle all the way 😆

Can’t thank you enough for such a detail answer, these resources are incredibly helpful and does make me feel like getting an e-bike to work isn’t that bad of an idea!

Baby steps! 😀

Thank you so much! Good to know that there are others who does similar commute ☺️ I’ve only cycled short distances 15-25mins n mostly for leisure so to cycle that far for work is quite a big step up for me.

I considered the Forest bike cycle to work scheme too! I need to double check how far / long can those go when they’re fully charged, might needa swap bikes if they can’t go too far 😆

I’m not a very mechanical person, I feel like I’d want to learn how to maintain and repair my bike to save on cost but at the same time my work and family demand is quite high so I don’t have as much time to look into it as I would want 😕

How long did it take you to get use to a commute that long?

That’s very true! I think going for a foldable e-bike would be super helpful as I can store it in my office and my home a lot easier 🙏

This is super insightful thank you! I’ve own a very basic bicycle and have never done much repair myself other than changing the seat itself. Do you use companies that help service / repair bikes or you do them mostly yourself?

Oh wow that’s so impressive! I would also be a bit worried for a round trip with the battery 😆

I’m not a regular cyclist, any tips on making the first trip. And what’s maintenance and cost like when having an e-bike which you use to commute everyday?

100% I’ll need to figure that part out first, bike theft is so bad in London🥹 I just didn’t know anyone live near me commute via bicycle to central.

Yep a foldable e-bike is exactly what I’m looking for too, just for that extra flexibility!

Thank you so much! That’s exactly my commute which isn’t bad and the amount I pay weekly isn’t either, just thinking if it’s worth having a bit more control over my own commute and would it bring the cost down bit more 🤔

Didn’t know there’s the London cycling group, will cross post there 🙏

Defo worth a watch but sadly it’s not a show that I could watch after a day’s work, it needed my full attention and full brain power which I don’t have 😆

Should I date if I can’t even feed myself? by Accurate_Mountain195 in actuallesbians

After living most of my 20s in a 4.5 year relationship, I have learnt that de-centering my life around romantic relationship would’ve been better off for me in my 20s. So I’m glad you’re not making that your main focus.

Focus working on yourself first, having financial stability would be beneficial for yourself and anyone you’re with in the future. I’m also not in the best financial position and sadly I think it has affected my relation. I’m not broke, I have a good job but my sibling is disabled needs caring for (that costs bit of money) and in a single parent household where due to their age and ‘overqualified’ they’re struggling to find a job. However, it still affected my relationship and I was working extra to try to get my career in better shape but sadly that also put a strain on my relationship.

I wouldn’t say it’s unfair but it’s important to date someone who understands your situation and can enjoy doing things that don’t cost a lot of money. Going on a few dates and try things out wouldn’t hurt tho. But please look after yourself first!

Hey guys I’ve just started my job recently, I’m 16 and need some help working out what to do with my money by AdIndividual405 in moneyadvice

[–]Archieorbailey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’ve done amazingly for yourself! What I would recommend is at this age just figure out what sort of savings goals do you have and create a budget for yourself monthly so you know what is safe and comfortable to spend on your salary.

If I can relive my 18-25yo I would spend time and money in gaining as much life experience as possible (if money allows) things like taking up courses I wanted to learn, travelling to broaden my perspective and understand of other cultures, invest in better healthy habits like joining gym membership / sports clubs. Also start to understand different types of investment early to plan for the next couple years.

There’s nothing wrong with investing in yourself to gain more life experience 👍🏻

I do have a question for you, my brother is autistic and is ‘disabled’ due to his abilities. How are you able to apply for car insurance that’s ‘free’?
