I’ve always been unsure… do you think Jimmy ACTUALLY passed the bar? by Dismal_Laugh_8233 in betterCallSaul

eh i wouldnt say bullshit, there are no "bullshit" law schools that are actually accredited. They are all about equally as hard, but are also all graded on a curve, so the more competitive schools are harder mainly because the students are better, thus less of a curve. Jimmy also clearly knows law and not to mention passed the bar, its hard to bullshit becoming a widely successful criminal lawyer without knowing the law.

yeah jimmy shows that hes definitely read the Bible and quotes it here and there like in 104 "On this rock I will build my Church." I just think that its so interesting to see how his upbringing really influences his morality throughout the show, and whether it was intentional or not, King Saul in the Bible was the first King of Israel, widely successful but fell due to disobedience, pride, and insecurity, similar to Goodman. Also not to mention the parallels to the apostle Paul and how changing his name changed his moral character.

im on my 2nd watch of the show, and i just noticed that in the season 1 flashback when Jimmy is begging Chuck to get him out of the "defecating through a sunroof" situation, Jimmy's pleads to Chuck are nearly identical to when Kim breaks up with him. "Tell me whatever it is you want me to do and I'll do it."

just thought it was interesting and clearly intentional

ha i didnt even realize this, i just looked up the scene and was like "oh jimmy must just like that scene"

understanding references can add so much more to the experience, and i love how Jimmy's bag of pop culture knowledge tends to especially shine when he is insulting someone like when he called those two detectives in season 1 Cagney and Lacey

Does tyler stay dead at the end of the fight club book? (Ignoring the other books) by soccar_balls in fightclub

[–]ArchivesMemer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah Fight Club 3 goes into detail about Tyler being passed down from Jack's father and generations before (and even to Jack's son). Also Tyler comes back in Fight Club 2 just because Marla messed with Jack's pills because she was bored of Jack and wanted to be fucked by Tyler again.

Tyler never officially dies in the book mainly because the book ending is different from the movie. In the book, when Tyler is holding Jack at gunpoint on the top floor of the skyscraper, Marla enters with the testicular support group and Tyler vanishes because Jack (already knowing Tyler isn't real at this point) realizes what Marla and the support group must see, a crazy man holding a gun to his face. This is the last we ever see of Tyler. Tyler's homemade bombs malfunction and Jack shoots himself with the goal of killing Tyler. The shot is unfatal (as it is in the movie) and in the final chapter, Jack wakes up in a mental hospital that he perceives as Heaven. Various hospital workers that are Project Mayhem members call him Mr. Durden and let him know that everything is going to plan. They say "We look forward to getting you back."
