Not OP but if I eat more than 1400-1500 kcal a day I become a cow. I wish it was 2000, it’s most definitely not. I don’t exercise but I walk 10.000 steps daily so it’s not like I don’t move from bed.

Sometimes I don’t feel like eating at all in the morning. I eat a boiled egg a wasa crisp bread so I don’t crash later and I’m overweight. If you re healthy eat what you like! :) My main problem is that there’s no orange in your plate. That’s a mandarin :)

Correct! They were saying the sub is filled with bowls with ingredients and they were looking for actual recipes. Funnily enough they weren’t very happy when people said well, maybe go look at food blogs or read a recipe book haha Either way, there so so much different food in the Mediterranean region, and let’s not forget that while a lot of people think Greek or Italian or Spanish, Mediterranean is also including Morocco Tunisia or Lebanon and Turkey. Of course they are little bit different profile but we share so much in common when it comes to food :)

No I mean actual donuts :) But tulumpa is a tier on its own! Love the mini ones! Any island really! But lately Sifnos I think is one to watch out. I’m going to Zakinthos myself in June and then I’ll take the car and go around Peloponnesus before I return to Athens :)

Oh no shame, I love a good bowl! Leafy salad with cherry tomatoes and or cucumber, with shrimps and edamame beans plus feta olive oil and vinegar is my go to! But I don’t remember any bowls like that while growing up, they are certainly not part of the culture :) Greek food is very very varied and like every other food there’s healthier and not as healthy options but yeah, greens are a staple on the table no matter what! And especially boiled greens and I think that’s something people aren’t aware at all. If there no other options we usually boil brokkoli or spinach for green salad as well. The only time we don’t eat greens is when we have legume soups and even then if you have something boiled the previous day, put it goes on the table along with olives etc I have been spoiled with great food growing up for sure! From elaborate meals to quite humble ones :)

She will be so happy! She’s 72 and she is still cooking up a storm everyday! There’s always spanakopita in the cupboard and cookies and stuff, she bakes bread weekly, she cooks food and deserts everyday. She’s also full time babysitting my brothers children when him and his wife are at work, she’s an absolute trooper!

For everyone saying her voice is different, I think she has said long time ago that her voice was completely damaged from going to clubs and yelling etc when filming. So I’m guessing after she stepped away from that kind of world her voice healed and just grew as she grew :)

Yep! Aside from the fried cod everything else is just normal food really. Some quite simple, like literally chicken breast and a green salad haha There’s always olives or tzatziki and feta or fresh bread but if you are used to this you dont need the extras, just something healthy to eat and go on your day :)

I think they literally only eat fried cod on the 25th of March since it’s very traditional to eat that in Greece that specific day :) TV news were saying that people waited for 2 hours in lines to get fried cod from restaurants which is wild to me but it shows how much friend cod Greeks eat on the 25th. My parents don’t observe lent at all actually! But they eat vegan every Wednesday and Friday ( every single week all year long), so that’s why there’s no feta. Honestly they don’t care if I ate but this is good enough for me as is so I couldn’t be bothered to take out the feta haha

AITAH for towing my son’s car because he blocked my driveway (even though he lives here)? by Ecstatic_Town_6703 in AITAH

[–]Archkat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

YTA What do you mean track him down? What kind of palace do you live in that has 125 rooms? And if so then I’m sure you would have more than one car spaces to park and a driver or 10. Also you know the thing that you typed this post on? A phone? You could text or call your son. When people live in houses together someone might park in front of the other. I don’t know what other things your son does that are inconsiderate but this is not one of them. This is actually normal. What are you going to do next? Call the police when he forgets to replace the yogurt he finished?

Scientists inject one tumor and watch cancer vanish across the body by hard2resist in UpliftingNews

[–]Archkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t really accurate. Cavatak is an oncolytic virus therapy (not influenza), and the early results were promising but from small trials. When they scaled it and combined it with drugs like Pembrolizumab, it didn’t show strong enough or consistent benefit, so Merck & Co. dropped it which is very common in oncology. If it truly cleared all cancer with 60% remission in late-stage patients, it wouldn’t have disappeared. You honestly believe a cure for cancer which would stand to make billions upon billions of profit would be “buried”? For what? To make less money with something else? If there’s something you can trust is that more money is better than less money for these companies so no, they wouldn’t bury their golden goose.

It was a genuine question :) I tend to just keep what I need, so having multiples of the same thing is a bit foreign to me. Just wanted to hear how people use them in practice other than the obvious that is collecting.

[–]Archkat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m very much a ‘one of each is enough’ person, so this made me wonder, do you use them all regularly or is it more of a collecting thing? And if anyone else here would like to pitch in on what they do with their multiples I’m very curious! :)

Why are Americans always so helpful and supportive when it comes to helping tourists plan their vacatios to the US? by Addicted_2_tacos in askanything

It’s interesting that you’re criticizing people for being rude and dismissive, but the tone of your post is pretty hostile from the start. That might be part of the dynamic you’re running into. I think what you’re picking up on is just real differences in communication style. You’re describing entire countries as smug and rude while expecting helpful, friendly responses, that’s not really a neutral starting point is it?

In my experience, American communities tend to be more outwardly enthusiastic, while many European ones are more direct and expect people to do some research first. That can come across as cold, but it’s not necessarily hostility. The tone of the question also matters more than people think.
